Hello from an STi owner!
Welcome!!
I have an 04 STi & an 06 S2k. By far, the s2k is the more fun to drive car. My STi is a protuned Stage 2 w/ Racecomp Engineering Tarmac 2s. I prefer the balance & handling of the s2k a lot more.
Surprisingly, I dont miss the tq when I jump in the s2k. On the stock VF39, the tq fall off on higher rpms is horrendous. I get 335lbs awtq @ 3500rpm, but drops like a brick to redline. Id rather have all the tq on the high end than on the low end of the curve.
The s2k feels a lot more connected to the road. A true driver's car. The STi's inputs feels vague (steering, shifter, pedal spacing). Im planning on getting a quick rack (11.5:1 ratio) on the STi. Hopefully, that will make the STi's steering more alive.
IMO, the practical STi is a great realiable street car & the spartan s2k is geared more for the track. If I were to choose between the two, Id pick the s2k in a heartbeat.

I love the Sti. more so when it was a sedan and not a hatch.
