Thumbs up Hey

Hi, i've been on the forums for a while and have been looking around every once in a while, i'm usually on supraforums and have some questions (i pormise they aren't "how much hp does it have?" type) andi'm hoping to get a good deal on an earlier s2k during the summer

1. how big are they on the inside? i'm about 6' and 250...am i too tall/fat?

2. i remember reading that people steal the seats a year or so ago, does that still happen a lot?

3. (maybe should've searched) but why are the 2000's and 2001's much less expensive? was there an issue with the earlier ones (for example, early 350Z's had a tranny problem)

4. (this one is stupid) does the hard top go on top of the soft one? or do you put the soft top down? it looked to me like the HT went on top of the soft one, just curious

1. I'm not sure about fitting, never had that problem. I don't think your height will be a problem. I've seen some pretty big guys in an S2000, but the seats do seem to be built for a smaller person. The only way to really know is to go check one out.

2. Certain areas, especially larger cities, seem to be worse than others for having seats stollen. It takes a little work to get them out, so they are generally stollen at night. If you have a garage it shouldn't be a problem.

3. There weren't any real problems with the 2000 and 2001 models. In 2002 the car got some nice upgrades like a better radio (although it's still nothing to brag about), glass rear window (instead of plastic), leather console (instead of carpet), prettier shift knob, a chrome ring around the tail lights, and a couple other little things I'm sure I forgot about.

4. You lower the soft top, then put the hard top on. A hardtop also helps drastically with the seat stealing problem.

Hope that helps.

I'm 6'2'' and I didnt have a problem with comfort there. I only weight 180 though. I would suggest just go and sit in one. Looks like scottrunsxc covered the rest of your questions.

thanks a lot guys, i was seriously worried about me fitting in one and i have a neighbor that has one, but i'm not sure how he'd feel about some stranger sitting in it (i don't really know him)

also, i'm going to search it, but is it possible to just put a top with a glass window in an earlier s2k?

At 250, you might find the car confining, IM. You really should go sit in one. I'm 5'10" 210, and I find it snug, but very comfortable.

It is possible to convert the older top to the newer top, but it's expensive and it's a labor-intensive job, even for pros.

Best wishes in your research.

if it is hard to do, it's probably expensive and not worth it...hopefully i can find one with a glass window, but i'll deal with it if i can get one for a good price

Lots of folks actually like the plastic window. It's bigger than the glass, and if you take care of it, it works nicely.
