Default Hey everyone.

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forums. I am here obviously because I love the S2K, and because I plan on attaining one very soon. Before I go on however, I would like to know your personal opinions on why you chose the S2K, and not any other type of roadster. Yes, I too think it's better then all the available (competitively priced) ones, except the Miata (3rd gen mx-5). I love them both, and while the S2k is faster, and arguably better looking, the Miata is significantly less expensive (about 10 to 15k), and with the savings can be turbo charged. With just 7 psi, the whp can be brought up significantly enough to compete/beat an S2K, and the Miata also weighs just 2,500 lbs. Isn't the S2K along the lines of 3,200? The Maita has been around for 16 years so it's not like the technology is sub par, and the resale value is very good for this particular car. It's a well made automobile. But I still love the S2K, and if anything I would buy a slightly used one so that I could factor out price when making my decision. Any feed back from you guys would really help me in deciding, seeing as on this forum I'm sure there are people here that know more about both cars than I do. Also feedback from previous Miata owners would be very helpful, especially people who have already driven the new MX-5.

Thank you, El bohemio

Welcome aboard!

Do a little digging (search) around, and you'll see lots of Miata Vs. S2k threads, so I am not going to touch that topic.

Why I selected S2000? Well, it's corny, but for me it's love at first sight. I still remember the first time I saw the S in person. It was April 30th, 2001. I was at the dealership buying my Prelude. Lacking the financial means to buy the Spa Yellow S2000 on the showroom floor, I said to myself back then: "Someday."

So 2 cars came and gone. Several jobs and promotions later, I found myself in the feasible reach of obtaining one of the best driving cars on this planet. After that, it's just 'happily ever after'.

BTW, S2000 weighs in at 2850 lbs. That's the 2006 model. Earlier models might even be lighter than that.

Well, I think you should do some test drives and see how you feel. I was a first-gen Miata owner (for 12 years), so I love the Miata. But, there's no comparison between my S and my '90 Miata.

Enjoy the process. Both are great cars. Go with your gut, and pick the color that speaks to you.
