Default ... AND I'm BACK!

Back in 2005, I was lucky enough to have leased a brand new Silverstone Metallic S2000 from Hardin Honda. Yes, there were moments when I wish I had a few extra seats in the back, but I did actually manage to fit two 2 girls in the car with me in one instance! Having to shift while one of the girls straddled the transmission tunnel was a memory I won't soon forget!

At lease end, and after a few track events (shh...) I turned in my S2000 with 70k and change on the clock (happily paid the overage penalty). I went from an S2000 to an '08 BMW 335i sedan, 6MT. It was a lot of fun until sh*t started breaking on me. I still managed to get 102k miles out of the car before I sold it to Carmax.

Having been taught a harsh lesson in German reliability, or lack thereof, I got back into a Honda. This time, a '10 Civic Si. Fun for a while, but I needed more power, so I traded that in for a 2009 Lexus ISF which I still have. I found the 2UR-GSE to have a lot of similarities to our F20C/F22C in that both motors have "dual personalities". If you've never driven an ISF, or now an RCF, go test drive one, turn on Sport Mode and put it in Manual. Then, take the revs pas 4k... you'll understand what I'm talking about. Also, the shifts are blazing fast for a single clutch auto!

While the Lexus is very much a civilized beast in its own rite, I missed the raw connection with a proper mechanical vehicle that allowed me to be in full control. I was lucky enough to talk my company into getting me a '14 Civic Si Sedan, but although it's a lot more fun than my coworkers' company cars, I found it to be a little watered down, even compared to the '10 Civic Si... so I went shopping on my own.

A few months searching later, I came upon this 1-owner stock 2005 Grand Prix White with more than a few miles on the clock (152k to be exact), but with service records that would indicate borderline OCD (and I thank him for it!). This beauty came with matching GPW OEM hardtop, a new set of tires and headrest speakers - which I believe were an $800 option at the time. The clutch is in great shape, as is the rest of the car. A few hours later, I signed the paperwork and got the keys!

It feels great to be back in a proper Honda (with a cable throttle, at that!)! Now, time to find some twisty roads!

Hello and welcome to the Forums! Great story, I had a flashback when I put 3 girls in my car. Two were lapped up riding shot-gun and another in the trunk.

Thanks everyone! It's great to be back! It's funny that you guys bumped the "Manifold Photoshop" thread! That thing used to make my day go by!

Yeah, I thought I was livin' right when I had 2 girls in the cabin, but one more in the trunk takes the cake. She's a trooper, whoever she is! Let me guess, you had no intentions of getting with the girl who laid in the trunk? Hehe
