Congratulations @signde and welcome. If you don’t mind sharing, whereabouts are you located and where did that first drive in your S2000 take you?
Though it wasn’t my first car, the first new car I ever bought (and one of the few new cars I’ve ever owned) was a 1987 Honda CRX Si (great car). Also like yourself, my S2000 marked the first time back in a Honda car after some time away from the brand (though not completely as I owned Honda motorcycles during the interim). The S2K also marked my return to top-down driving, having previously owned a couple of different convertibles in my younger years. As for your search, 6 months really isn’t bad at all to get what you were after — especially as these cars continue to decrease in number as time marches on. In addition, like yourself some travel was involved when picking up my S2000. I picked the car up in Central Oregon (Bend area) and then drove it back through the Cascades to NW Oregon. That was one great and very memorable drive.
I am in Nashville, car was for sale in Alpharetta which is just outside the Atlanta Perimeter - about a 4 hour nearly all interstate drive. It helped sweeten the deal that the car was close enough that it was reasonable to fly and drive. I hit a few torrential downpours on the way home, enough for me to validate the seller was honest when he said the original top was in great shape with no leaks.
I really miss my CRX, that car was so much fun to drive. So small, it handled like it was on rails. I remember my high school friends joked that I drove a "matchbox car", hah! I searched for one of those too for some time but eventually punted on that idea. Finding one of those that is not beat up is an exercise that outweighed my patience.
Hello people of the s2ki! I'm Orion, currently I live in North Carolina. I got my stock 2003 Sebring Silver S2000 back in December with 96,000 miles, but since then I've daily driven it up to almost 107,000 miles. When I'm not having fun with the S2000 I'm usually working on my Dad's 1957 Chevy 210 4-door that's got an Ls3 swap, however that car won't be driving for another month. I look forward to interacting with all of you.
Hello from the bay area! I recently purchased a 00 AP1 in NFR. First time in my life I have felt the difference between driving and commuting. I was never big on S2Ks because I always wanted an 05 WRX STI bug eye, but I fell in love with the car the second I sat in the analog cabin and felt the VTEC kick in. Already took it on some spirited canyon drives and cant get the cheshire cat smile off of my face.
Hello good people! New to S2000s but not Hondas. Looking to put together a trackable weekend car with the main goal of learning to drive FR. Still in the (Canadian) market and doing lots of research. Past projects (loves) include an '08 TL Type-S, and a junky but very fun ITR (that a past owner thought should be blue...). Looking forward to learning and chatting about S2000s (and getting my post count up so I can DM Billman250 for one of his TCTs, haha).
Hey guys, new s2k ap1 owner here! My last manual car was a honda prelude type sh! Picked up a silverstone with super low miles, 17k in great shape. Have plans to modify and will need help from this excellent community.
Here is my recent progression of cars and what led me to the s2k.
I had a BMW X5, thought is was my dream car, until it started falling apart after 3 years and less than 50k miles. Decided to go back to Japanese, got a Honda Ridgeline and a R35 GTR, nice combo, But as a sports car, I really missed that manual gearbox.
Four years later, I decided to try a Tesla Model Y performance (traded the Ridgeline), wow did that change my outlook on things. That's for another day, but I ended up selling both the Model Y and GTR and getting a Model S.
Not really the best move there, but I aimed to correct it. Hence the s2k.
I guess it worked out in the end, I really enjoy the s2k, was't even looking for one but once I went down the rabbit hole of research, I ended up here, and I feel like I made the best choice.
I will be keeping my Tesla as a daily, it really is that good. But there is no work involved, it almost fully automated, the complete opposite extreme. Now I get to experience both, what a life!
Old s2K owner here.... purchased a 2000 S2K new and it has been with me ever since, was my daily driver for quite some time got it up to about 80k miles, than had kids, and the s2k got much less driving time than it used to as I moved over to the Honda Odyssey. So, my kids just got their drivers licenses and I find that I have more time to enjoy the s2K more again. Car is stock, no mods. I live in the Philadelphia area. I need to get some maintenance done on it soon and am thinking about upgrading the radio and speakers.
I think I had an account here (before the kids), but that email account is no more.
