Default New to the family

Hello everyone! Today I purchased an 04 Silverstone w/ 75k miles on the clock. I woke up today having no intention of test driving, let along buying a car until I stumbled upon her. I've been looking around online casually for an S2000 for years now & one popped up locally that really sparked my interest. I traded my 2013 Civic sedan for it, a rather practical car...but I just couldn't walk away once I drove the S2K. I now own a 91 notchback ex-police interceptor Mustang & an S2000, lol. Not the most sensible pair but what can I say.

I purchased the car from Herson's pre-owned in Rockville, the sales staff were awesome & everyone was so excited to even have an S2000 on the lot. The staff I worked with had all been there for 20+ years & kept congratulating me & talking about their experiences with the S2000 when it came out, all seemed to be big Honda fans.

It as a really awesome experience & it's still a bit surreal, this has always been on my list of attainable dream cars & I finally have one! It's a very clean example, 3 previous owners. It has some scrapes & a ding or two, the top has a couple patches on it & a tiny rip but other than that it seems to purr.

The only concerns are maybe the clutch (I think it may be toward the end of it's life), the rough turn-over (seems to really jolt the car when you start/kill the engine), and a slightly loud valvetrain, which could just be injectors & timing chain noise I'm not used to. Oh & the brakes squeal pretty loud, haven't checked the pads/rotors yet.

I'll post some better photos soon

Welcome! Sounds like the car may have had a little bit of a rough life before hand but a good buy none the less. My first s2k was considerably more rough and turned out to be a great car. I'd get it checked out by someone who is familiar with s2000's local if I was you. Preferably not the dealership.

Good idea, I definitely want to give it an overhaul & get some other opinions. It was registered in Washington D.C. for the past few years & the district is notoriously hard on cars. That thread you linked to is gonna be invaluable, I plan on overhauling as many things as I can.
