Default new S2k owner

Hi guys. Brand spankin new (me, not the car) S2k owner here. I'm a BMW tech in Houston, TX. I've driven a 1999 Honda Accord the last 7 years to save up for this car. I got an awesome deal on it. 2003 model w/ 34k miles for $15k.

I have tons of questions, so here goes:

Obviously, the wheels look like ass. I would like to replace them with a set of Volk TE37's in white wrapped in BFG G-Force KDW. I just noticed on the way home that the tires are rubbing. Hoping one of you could suggest a wheel/tire combo that will fit well but also maybe a little bit more traction than stock.

As a tech, I know that all cars have design flaws and specific things that fail often so what should I be looking at with this car?

Future plans include the aforementioned wheel/tire and a little later some coilovers for better handling.

Im sure Im forgetting something that I'll be adding later.

Congrats on your purchase! You're right about those wheels. I know as far as the TEs, the usual size is 17"x 7.5(+48mm) front & 17"x 9.0(+65mm)rear. I guess you can go with 18"s for bling but I would stick with 17"s for performance. As far as rubbing issues, I need to know what size & off sets those horrible rims are & what your tire sizes are.(& if you are lowered) Enjoy your new S!

Thanks for the #s and the info. So who knows the place to get the best deals on wheels/tires?

Not sure why you're asking for info on the old wheels because they're NOT staying. However, they are Rial Porto wheels and they're cheap ass wheels. I'd like to get them off before I ruin my fenders or I put a chip in them before I sell them. As is, they're mint and hopefully I can get at least a few bucks out of 'em.

Also I'd like the get the tire sizes that will fit on those wheels.

TE37's all depend on how aggressive you want to go with the offset and how much width you want. I wouldn't go no larger than an 18'' rim, and honestly 17'' looks perfect on the s2000. You are right though, the first thing I would do is get those rims off. It looks like in the picture they are even with the wheel wells. Do they rub in the front or rear, or all over?

Well just by listening, I'd say it's only rubbing on the LR.

Drove it across town back to the stealership to pick up my old Honda with my buddy and we were both smiles the whole way...

I hope you'll get what you are looking for. Welcome on board!

You could have a look at TireRack for wheels and tires. Check also the Wheels & Tires forum sponsored by The Tire Rack.

Hey guys, I just ran across a set of black te37's on CL

http://houston.craigslist.org/pts/1787613885.html
18x8 +42

I wanna wrap them in BFG KDW's

225/45zr18
245/40zr18

Does this sound like a combo that will work?
