Hello everyone!
The time is finally here I have put a deposit down on a 2005 suzuka blue s2000. I am going to look at the car on Saturday.
I am unfamiliar with what to look for when purchasing with these cars, anything to look out for?
General condition is paramount. Rust around the rear arches appears fairly common on UK cars. Soft top condition should be verified as well.
These only came with an all-blue interior in the US. I'm curious what interior color is in this car.
Is this a "GT" model? Has the matching hard top. US models all have black tape trim around the windshield until well after 2006 so this looks like "factory" to me with that hard top.

Hi chuck.
Yes it is the GT model. It also has the blue interior which I know alot of people aren't a fan of, but I have sat in one with this setup and I really like it! (each to their own) i have been told that there is no rust but will make sure I spend a while checking the arches and other spots prone to rust.
- check suspension components for play (tie rod ends, etc.)
- check VTEC solenoid for leaks
- inspect brake pads, rotors, and brake fluid
- inspect clutch fluid
- check differential for leaks
- inspect serpentine belt and pulleys
- inspect radiator and accompanying hoses
- inspect engine, transmission, and differential mounts
Now, of course, this is not a complete list. I just wanted to share some of the things I looked for when I bought my car. My best recommendation to you would be to take the car to a mechanic shop, that you trust, and have them complete a pre-purchase inspection.
If that is something you are not looking to do, my next best suggestion would be to create a list and have it with you when you see the car; take your time and go through your list. Any reasonable seller should be willing to accommodate you. Also, check out these videos which go into more detail about what to look for when purchasing an S2000. Good luck!
1st verify ALL TEN vin numbers are in place......if not then here was some damage to the missing vin ...then go from there.
Ask about oil changes....being on regular intervals.....records are a BIG plus.....if brake fluid has been evacuated and fresh...if the owner did this then that shows they are up on maintanence..IMHO...as most people neglect that.
Here's a short list I had, but search around here for a better more inclusive list
Wow this is exactly what my car was when i bought it a year ago. 58k miles 2005 Suzuka Blue with OEM hardtop. Listen to all th eadvice here for sure but the car looks pretty clean from the pictures!
