First of all let me begin by saying that I am in love with s2000! I have almost sold my prelude...meaning someone committed that they will bring the money tommorow and pick up my prelude..so my hunt is about to begin for s2k..

i have been trying to find on this site and on google..what i am trying to see is the difference between 01 to 02 to 03 to 04..i have found the 01 to 02 difference and with 04 i know its got a 2.2..so i am trying to see the difference..

also i have read but am little confused..i have been told also that some of the years had some major problems with tranny and few other things..i would really appreciate if someone can help me with those things so i can decide which year to go for..

also i am going to finance it..i dont want to get a 05 or 06 since i dont want to tie myself to big bills every month..

oh and i have read numerous times about people getting their interiors ripped from seats to steering wheels to shift knobs etc etc..is it normal? i live in la area and i am kinda worried..does full coverage insurance regularly cover this?

the search will help out alot in the first few months
heres what i think

00 and 01 :
-they are the 'originals' they are the cars that were sold way above the normal sticker price
-they had a plastic rear window that if not taken care of frequently, will look like garbage
-they had the most problems with tranny, esp the 1-2 shift
-they should be the cheapest to find as they are the oldest
-spa yellow was introduced in 01

02 and 03 :
-they had a new color option , suzuka
-they had a better tranny than the older ones but, but some still had tranny problems(but in less numbers than 00 &01)
-they have a better stereo, but if you looking for an upgrade, then that wont matter
-the rear glass window, the updated interior with leather center tunnel

04 and 05 :
-had the new 2.2l engine
-the even newer updated interior
-the even better tranny
-larger(better looking) wheels, new bumpers and lights and gearing to suit the newer engine

to me the glass rear window is enough to convince me to get an 02 or newer model
and IMO the year 2002 will be the better model year cause it has the upgrades and the glass window, and the lower price since they are now 4 years old
