Default s2000 drinking oil

I read recently and now can't find the post recommending what kind of fluids are best and what I can expect for consumption for my new 01 s2k. He/she also provided some other suggestions. Bad news I shattered my left wrist 5 days ago and bought my s2k 3 days ago. Good news my wife, who totally disapproved of the car had to test drive it for me and drive it home. It was great. Thanks

Are you saying the car is burning oil a ton? Or are you asking what the average S2K from that year is burning? Sorry to hear about the wrist, speedy recovery.

Read your owners manual. It will tell you lots of stuff, even recommends that you don't drink and drive. In sunny California I use 10w-30. It's commonly accepted that Mobil 1 will burn more than other brands. Also search "PCV" and follow the instructions to ensure yours isn't gummed up.

AMSoil is the best. Find a dealer near you or order it. I have used it in my S since I bought it and I have never had to add oil in between changes.

depends on the oil and your driving, the more you run it hard the more you will burn. I used Mobile 1 full synthetic and burned alot. Began using Castrol GTX non synthetic just 2 oil changes ago and use a third of what I was. My car has 4% to 5% leakdown across all 4 cylinders and 254 - 259 PSI compression in all 4 cylinders w/75,000 miles of "driven to design" use. MY01

thanks for the feed back, sorry no caps, surgery yesterday and got only 1 hand working right now. i haven't a manual yet will order today online but i was just wondering about the consumption from users and then compare to mine and the book. i believe i bought a great car in excellent condition inside and out. but they guy 63 yrs. old, who brought it from his sisters estate when she died, that i bought it from had it only 1 year, did all maintenance, but did know name size or offset of helo wheels with 225/40/18 f and 255/35/18 r. has no fender roll and supposedly only bilstien springs in front and stock in the back. he gave me the rear spring but it was a spring with whole shock. it looked like a coilover with no rings to adjust. i can't provide a photo of wheels right now but are they too big. the car handles 10x's better than the 911 i sold to make room for it. laid up and looking for suggestions thanks

I use Castrol Edge (formerly called Syntec) in my ap1. My car was drinking the dino oil that came in it, but have to add very little with Edge (just depends on how I'm driving it).
