I test drove my first S today and I was surprised how many the dealerships have on the lot in the Houston area. I thought it was a limited production car that would be selling for MSRP but they had like 2 of every color and even some brand new unsold 05's?? The salesman said he'd make me a great deal on an 05 but I didn't want to get cornered in his office discussing price, I just wanted to drive one, so I told him I wanted to test drive other cars before I made a decision in order to ditch him. Being 6'2" 34" waist I was surprised by the head room and the car made a good impression on me. The 05 doesn't have VSA so I think I'm going to hold off a few more months and try to steal a left over 06 when the 07's show up. Anyhow I'm thinking with the inventory I saw I'd be low balling under $30k.

Here's a link that has some Norcal dealers that can help:

If those don't work you can PM "Pierceman" here in Socal, he can hook you up.

I vote for Grand Prix White

Good luck with the purchase. Some places the car is a very rare sight in a dealership. Calgary probably only has 5 new ones in dealerships right now and a population of 1 million.

Never any chance for a test drive until you have damn near signed the check.

I would also put in a vote for the GP White. The Blue is damn nice too though.

Some people have reported prices in the 30xxx range, but remember that pricing is a funny thing. The dealers still have to make their money somewhere, so some folks who get killer prices may be losing money on trade-ins or on financing "deals". If you don't get a price at 32000 or less then you haven't tried hard enough.

But in the long run, any price you pay that you are happy with is fine.

Yeah anyone should really be able to get at or near invoice at this point. Unless you meant 32k or less out the door.. haven't seen that often.

I'll be test driving an S2000 for the first time tomorrow If everything works out I expect to be buying a brand new 2006 model. The question I have is how dealerships handle new car orders... If the car + options I'm looking for isn't in stock and has to be ordered, does the dealership take full payment, or do they take a deposit and then full payment on delivery?

Excuse my ignorance, this'll be the first new car I've purchased.

You may have to leave a deposit if the dealer will find your car and dealer trade it. When the car arrives and you inspect it, the next step is to complete the sale.
