S2000 Market Prices
My LBP was $32500 out the door on May 14. 5.25% financing through American Honda on 20k, $6500 in trade on my '01 Accord V6 with over 150k miles, and the balance in cash. If I'd waited a week, American Honda Finance had a 3.9% deal going, but I didn't want to wait. I told them I'd pay all cash on the barrelhead for another $1k off, but no budge, so I'll just pay off the loan in big chunks. This was for stock + XM, iPod link, car cover, ashtray, and wheel locks. And the stupid interior/exterior Simonize package - OK the interior is not too bad, actually.
Financing gives me a little flexibility since I need to get a hardtop and winter rims/tires while they are cheap....
This is my 4th car through American Honda Finance. I swear they can hear me coming. But always gotten a fair deal through them lease or buy, IMO.

Im in the market for an 06' and I did some shopping around for best price, but I didnt think to ask for best OTD price. However, the best price I did get quoted that they would "sell the car" for is $29500. So what else would accumalate on top of that. Tax, Tag, Title, dealer fee? I need to go back there and see what kind of fees they'll tag on, because as far as im concerned, from all the reading ive been doing, $29500 seems kind of low, but then again, much more reading that I have to do, new to this forum.
I bought mine back in April for $30500 + $3000 for a hardtop. A couple of weeks ago I got an email from one of the internet sales people for a local dealer offering the S for $29800. So, it is possible to be on the low side of $30 now. As to what get tacked on, look up the site for your local DMV and they should have a page which details all the taxes and fees. Anything that doesn't show up on the DVM list, but the dealer trys to ask for, is probably garbage. Good luck!
Hi all, really enjoying this site. I've trawled through loads of information today. I'm thinking about buying an '06 S2000, when talking to a salesman at my local Honda dealer (Steven's Creek, Bay Area, CA) he started off with an offer of $500 over invoice.
I'm in a fortunate position of paying cash for the car. I want to go into the dealer, write a cheque and leave with the keys; deal done. However, does this put me in a better or worse position for negotiating a price?
This Friday (June 30th) is the last day of the quarter for those companies whose financial year follows the calendar year. Is this something that can be leveraged in price negotiations, or is it better to wait a couple of days until the July 4th Independance Day holidays?
Appreciate any replies.

The last day of ANY month is the best day to buy IMO. They need the deal to add to the monthly total(the salesman and the dealership). I would write a check for $30K and put it on the guys desk...
I worked in Honda sales for almost a year. From a buyer's perspective, it is the the best time to buy at the end of the month. The managers want that additional car added to their end of month figures, the salesman may need that one car deal to get salesman of the month award and it's typically the last day of the pay period. My manager would make the best deals on the last day or two of each month.
I been back and forth with quite a few dealerships in the south florida region and wow, what a wide variety of offers and service. Anyways, the cheapest i was quoted for the car was $29,500. I did some other price checking and that was by far the cheapest, so I went back the next day and thats when the dealership changed its name to stealership. The manager brought out the purchase form and had the invoice price on it, which was $31,XXX. I was quick to bringing up the $29,500 he quoted me the previous day and he stated "that was the price with a down payment". I had no idea what the hell down payment he was talking about, I simply told him I can get the car from here for this price, can you do better, he looked at his sheet and said, how does $29,500 sound. Sounded amazing of course.
Anyways, to make the story quick, my final price was 30893+ tax and tag. Which brought the total to $32.875 OTD. Because I was a little upset about the inital price he gave me, I have a signed paper by the manager that I will receive any options I want at "cost" (god only knows what kinda gypt this is if any). Tommarow I will go back, once hes able to locate a Black one, and he will be telling me his cost price for the hard top, car cover, and ipod adapter.
In end, depending on the prices of the options, I may have myself a good deal here. He told me the hardtop retails at $2995, so it will cost me much less, so he says. We'll see, I'll post back again tommarow witht he update.
