s2000 NOOB
Aaron,
Take a look through the introductions forum FAQ (at the top of the page), and also look through the S2000 Talk forum FAQ if you have the time.
There's lots to know.
Ultimately, the S is a great, solid car and you're probably worried about nothing, but it's best to be informed, IMO.
For an MY02, there is only the spark plug recall to truly be concerned about. You want to know that the plugs were changed and that they're torqued to 18PSI. Originally from the factory, the torque was lower and engines were dying from plugs backing off and disintegrating.

I appreciate all your help Chazmo. I know I am asking question that are already answered in many places but I don't have the time to go searching around right now. I also joined s2ki and and s2kam or someting like that and am lreading up as much as I can. I will deffinatly look at the FAQs and see what else I can learn. I am going to look atthe car in a couple of hours.
If you want to take the car to your mechanic, what is the procedure?
Does he come with me? Do we sign something and I take the car. I ususally buy older cars under $2,000 and have not really had to look into buying a 18k preowned car.

Hmm... Just ask the owner if you can have a mechanic inspect it. They might ask you to leave a down payment or something. Normally, an owner should just let you do it. Good question, though.. I haven't bought an expensive used car either.
Maybe someone else will chime in.
Good luck, Aaron. Bottom line advice, don't rush the process. Just be professional with the seller, and they should understand your concerns. If not, possibly they're trying to hide something. Just my opinion.

A recall was issued during the summer of 2002, Aaron, to get the spark plugs changed and re-torqued.
You can replace them at any time. I just changed mine (first time since the recall) at 52K miles. At 26K, they probably don't need to be changed, but it's not a bad idea.

Since this is going is being discussed could you describe how I'm supposed to find out if my vehicle is effected by one of the TSB's they have out for the 05's. I was a list that had dates but wasn't really sure what to look for and how to tell what I was looking for
Ahh ok. Yea last nite I checked on the honda owners thinig and it didn't come up with any recalls but I saw a thread about some new TSB that I think was for the 05's like some type of pump or something and I wasn't sure how to check if mine would be included
