Talk me out of getting a Lotus Elise

ANyone wanna try to talk me outta getting it over the s2k?
It's been explained pretty well here
1 - If you're more into LOOKS (it's ok to admit...I am
) then go with the Elise.
2 - If you're more into practicality (between the the s2k and Elise) then go with the s2k. I don't know all of the performance numbers but by the sounds of it the s2k wins in that category.
I drive a '05 BMW 525 in the winter and the s2k in the nicer months. The roads were clear the other day so I threw the battery in the s2k and took it for a short spin. Keep in mind that I just got the BMW a few months ago so I haven't driven the s2k since then.
Immediately after I pulled out of my driveway my face lit up with excitement as I was going through the gears. The only downfall to this was that I felt EVERY SINGLE BUMP ON THE ROAD and now I'm considering a different summer vehicle. I can't believe how big of a difference it is. Hopefully I'll get use to it, but as ti stands now I'm likely going to trade the car for something else. The only reason I'm rambling on like this is because the ride quality it the Lotus for me was absolutely unbearable and the s2k felt much softer in comparison.
In your situaton I'd vote for the s2k, but for me I think I need to get an old man's convertible

I do like the cool factor of owning a Lotus and the exterior is very interesting. Looks almost like an exotic or something. The only thing that has really turned me off to the Lotus is the GTS engine used in it. I have driven several GTS's and I was totally disappointed in the amount of torque and excelleration. I know the Elise is a lot lighter than the Celica, but I just don't like the engine. I think I would have to go turbo or something if I bought one.
Good info here...definitely help me out with my decision =) It's funny...right after I drove the lotus...I went back to a honda dealership cuz i wanted to sit inside an S2000 and see how it felt compared to the lotus. It felt alot bigger and raised lol. I need to drive another s2k ><
It depends what you would like to do with it. I have a friend who bought one about a year ago, and I will have to say I wouldn't own one. THey look friggin awesome, they are fast, handle like they are on rails. The interior makes you feel like you are in a stripped down race car (which if this is your goal, then consider ti accomplished). They are a bitch and a half to get in and out of daily. THey ride rough as hell, and are hot in the summer, and cold in the winter. Like everyone mentioned above body work will cost you an arm and a leg. Even though it dosent feel like you are accelerating at that great of speed, trust me you are. They run close to 13.0 1/4 miles, which is getting it done.
In the end the desicion is yours, but I could justify the extra 15K or so. Buy am S2000 and then SC it

elise = unibody? so uhh if you crash/scratch any part of the body you'll prolly end up replacing the entire shell. well not really but its a bitch
elise = hard to change oil. i heard on elisetalk that they have to remove 10 panels and such to do so.
besides those 2 mentioned, i'd love to own one. hell you can buy a "opted out" elise, with a/c, power windows, and other stuff. it might make the car heavier but certainly more livable. i want to drive one;[
