Default Used S2000 Checklist

Hey gang, I saw a checklist for a new car pickup. Is there someting similar for those considering a used S2000. Apart from the normal items that one would look at are there some S2000 specific things to check...

- Check VIN on body parts / where should one look?
- Engine Serial Number matching?
- Typical S2000 problems to look for?
- Spotting aftermarket components..

Getting closer to pulling the trigger and joining the owner ranks.

check the oil pan for a oil return line fitting. that will tell you if the car was turbo/supercharged at one time.

How old of a car are you looking at? AP1 or 2? I've got a 2001 that had a couple problems when I bought it I wish I would have known to look for.....let me know and I'll share if it applies.

Looking at a relatively new one. 2006 with around 5K miles. Just want to be sure that I have checked the VIN's on the car and other things that I can look at to make sure that it hasnt been abused.

It has a clean carfax.

You should still consider a compression and leak-down test to see if anyone damaged the engine. Beyond that, yeah, good idea to look at the VINs (and the engine number too) to see that things are reasonable.

also check the tires....they will tell you if the car has been through 6K clutch drops.
