I know what you mean, Scott. I really just want it so I can get comfortable with guns and he gave it at a great price.

I'm not a super gun nut, but I am fairly knowledgable, So I'm curious as to what bad things are said about glock??
Some people dont like them due to the lack of a safety. Some people say they're ugly, blocky etc.. I think it's more of less basically a ford vs. chevy type thing. The only thing I wish they would do is come out with a more compact piece.

If you want only a taget gun, I'd recommend a smith&wesson .22 cal. Cheap weapon, cheap ammo, lots of fun shooting and minimal to no recoil. All other ammo besides .22 cal has become ridiculous in price. It's doubled in price in south fl in only 3 years, and that's if you can find any store that has any left.

That is why I went with the 9mm instead of the .40 or .45. It has power but is cheaper to shoot than the other two options.

I chose 9mm for the speed and the 45 Acp incase the 9 is to fast and goes in and out. 45 is a slower round with a greater mass causing the initial cavitaion force to be transfered to the body instead on just going to fast and causing a through and through without the true inertia of the projectile causing massive and devastating damage allowing the assaliant to still atack.

The glock was chosen because of the capability to grab it and start firing without any thought, the ruger because of it's knock down power.

Yarb ... if you like target shooting there are some great .22LR pistols out there. I had a Ruger Mark II with a bull-barrel and it was awesome for 'plinking'. Like Medic said ... 22's are about the only reasonably priced bullet left any more. My 17HMR ammo is nearly as expensive as my .40cal

Glock is a great weapon for one main reason ... it is durable. I have kept mine under the seat of my car for over a year without ever cleaning it ... and under my drivers seat is ALWAYS dirty. I've even shot a few round through it and forgotten to clean it and it still is in great shape. A good friend actually fired his off under water (in a pond) and it still exited the spent round and chambered another one! Amazing.

^^ Glocks were made to run dirty. Glock has done there own independent test where they fired 80,000 rounds, never cleaning the gun once. Not a single jam or misfire. Look at YouTube for the "glock melt down test". Glock fires over 300 rounds in under 2 min automatically through a 9mm glock and the gun had no mechanical failure or any barrel melt down at all.
