Thanks for all the advice guys. I guess for now I'll stick to leaving it as it is. Then later, if I want to do something with them then I will.

Oh, also found out that the probable cause of the hole found in my friend's header was more than likely due from moisture getting trapped under the wrap leading to a nasty corrosion problem.

Thats the problem with wrapping anything with the material. You would need to put some kind of anti rust / moisture lube on the pipe before wrapping it to save the welds
