I would love to have a back to back header shootout with the 5-7 most popular performance headers, but it makes no sense economically for one person to do the testing the absolute right way so we end up piecing things together from lots of disparate data and forming opinions which can't be directly supported and hence can easily be attacked. So for anyone else reading, this is one person's opinion based on lots of disparate data, take it for what it's worth.
Its a useless cause.

Each motor is different. Some s2000's make 10 more rwhp stock than other stock s2000's.

Even if you did this test with the same car, it doesn't mean that the same headers on your car or mine would make the same power.

In all honesty, the header debate comes down to what mods will compliment it.

J's works good with j's exhaust, and amuse works well with amuse exhaust.

j's is the highest gaining hp header though for the s2000.

I dont understand why you want low end. The only time you use it is.... never, unless you like to do roll races starting at 2k rpms. Once you shift in the S the revs never drop to the low end of anything, unless your that bad of a shifter. Its a 4 banger, forget low end, its all about the screams above 6k, if you track the car, then sure you may slightly benefit from a mid range. I have J's and T1R 70mm single, I would never consider anything else for a header other than hytech.

By the way, aj racing has a used J's header if you want to save a few hundred bills.

I run the Amuse headers with a single, non-resonated Amuse exhaust and have become a big fan of Amuse. Great build quality. What extra power it provides is a bonus as after changing out my final drive to 4.44 you certainly can feel a difference in get-up-and-go. ECU tuning would be next in the power quest.

Besides, this debate has been talked about in the N.A. Power topic on here.

I think all the headers out there from the big JDM companies are made exceptionally well, its just a matter of choice as to what characteristics you desire in your power band.

The Amuse is a very nice looking header and is very light (even though only 2 pounds lighter than most aftermarket headers) but it hasn't been shown to make substantial power.

You can pull dyno after dyno on the toda, j's and tracy sports but I have never seen one for the amuse that shows much of any increase in power.

In this respect the Amuse is similar to the ASM.
Playing devil's advocate for a moment...I haven't seen a before/after Hytech dyno substantiating their gains either on this board, so does that mean its a horrible header as well?

Hytech header shouldn't even be discussed as something that is a readily available option for anyone.

if you don't already have gears, I would use that money towards gears. Your "low end" would be felt best from a set of gears. $$$/Performance...Gears beat the header by a decent margin.

If you already have gears, the J's header seems to be the most popular header and shown to make decent power, much more in the mid-range and some up top. Then again, it's all just JDM bling, Megan header doesn't make as much power, but again, it still makes power and bang for you buck, will be better than a J's or Amuse. But then again, I'm just a poor Veteran waiting for his disablility checks
