Hi guys. Yesterday I installed the Backyard Special seat rail on the driver's side of my '07. It took me less than an hour. I encountered no issues. The extra hardware included in the box with the seat rail was easy to figure out. Upon reassembly, if any of the original hardware didn't fit with the new rail, I would find something from the small collection of "new" hardware that would.

(Ken, the large black bolt that requires an allen wrench to tighten is for connecting the back of the seat to the right side rail. If you look at the rail itself, you will see there is a nut already welded into place here. You just screw the black bolt in there.)

The one thing I am concerned about is the seat position sensor for the airbag system. At this point, I am going to tackle this by first asking Honda mechanics how the sensor works when I go for my oil change tomorrow. I most likely will resort to simply plugging in the sensor and placing as far away from the dash as possible and hope that with the dashlight not being lit, the system will work.

OH! Now that I think about it, the one issue I did have when installing the rails was making sure the seatbelt sensor wire was running between the rails and the seat bottom BEFORE bolting the bottom to the rails. : )

Good to hear!

So can we safely say that the 06/07's are the same?

Fits pretty snug in a 02 MY with my 6'4"arse.

Took me about 1 hr, 30 min or so as I took my time cleaning dust out from under there.

There is a nice difference you have to feel to believe. Glad I made this choice.

And yes, if you push hard enough you can get the seat to go all the way back in position. But its tight.

So, I installed one of these rails in my 07 as well. Here is how I interpreted the position sensor's operation. It detects when the seat is close to the steering wheel, rather the distance. A rail of metal passes through the sensor when the seat is positioned forward. When in my normal seating position, the metal rail was outside of the sensor's range. I simply drilled a hole in the bottom of the rail, tapped it and bolted the seat position sensor on the bottom on the cross rail, so it would not get too "close" to any metal objects. I think it is important to keep it from rolling around under the seat, as it could attach itself to a bit of metal and cause problems with the airbag system.

OK. I actually took the time to <GASP> read the manual this past weekend. Turns out that the air bag sensor under the driver's seat is in fact, a seat position sensor and further, it can be inferred that it is affected by the metal piece that it slides in between when the seat is pulled all the way forward on the stock seat rails. I say inferred because in the manual it tells you to not place metal objects under the driver's side seat. Not sure who already made this discovery, but it seems their findings are backed up by the owner's manual. Also, I never knew that there was that second between seat compartment until this weekend....THAT is hysterical...i got a good laugh about owning something for 6 months without knowing about the "secret" compartment.

That sneaky secret compartment has the same effect on a lot of folks.

Just think what thieves might be going thru to open the trunk or what not...

Looks like the inventory for these are depleted now? When is the next shipment?
