F24 Build
[QUOTE=duanet85,Apr 1 2008, 09:05 PM]i believe the reason for using the k24 crank is to create the extra .4L of stroke in the f20 block with the h22 pistons/rods, which is why the k24 crank has to be machined, so it will work in the f20 block.
does anyone know if the cylinder walls get significantly weaker if I bore them out? or if they aren't the same throughout( as in different layers). Reason for asking is I'm trying to make a setup using mahle pistons for the h22 but they are .25mm overbore (87.25) if it says they're 11.5c/r does that mean it will be the same in the f20 or will it be different?
and does anyone know the stock crankshaft size? maybe I'm not looking hard enough but I can't find it. Or even better is if someone knows all the specs to insert into a compression calculator so I can figure out my full build specs
sry for a lot of questions...

The 11.5 cr pistons should result in the same cr once installed into an f20 along with all the other necessary parts. The cylinder walls will get weaker once you get so thin but by only going .25mm over you should be fine, but your machinist will tell you for sure.

how long did it take you to pull the engine? and trans?
good luck looks like things are coming along smoothly for you.

I started pulling some stuff like the airbox, ex mani, and some sensors last night and then took everything out today. It actually took most of today to get it out. We tried to pull engine and trans out together through the top but that wasn't working so we separated them, leaving the tranny on the ground and pulled the engine through the top. We ran into a couple snags that ate up a lot of time but nothing ever goes as planned. Right now I have the old engine on a stand and the new engine is on the floor with everything transferred over to it (sensors, brackets, clutch, etc.) waiting to go in tomorrow. I should have everything done Friday then I have to wait til Monday to get it tuned. Stay tuned.
