Default Importing a GTR...

Anybody know where I can find some information regarding importing a R34 GTR Vspec I into the US? I already have one in another country and I plan to ship it over as soon as I can find a way to legalize the car. I need to do it right so I can actually use this car in the US, and not have it impounded and crushed.

I want this to be a LEGAL street driven car. Not a "kit car", "show car", or "race car". The car will be driven mainly in the east coast, it will probably never need to be driven in California. Lastly, is it possible to import this back out of the US?

If any of you guys have any information or know who I can get in contact with, that will be wonderful.

Thanks in advance...

Excellent link for the subject, and it clearly states only R33's from 1996-1998 are only eligible and I believe some nissan forums have said upwards of $80k for the car just to get it in the US.

dahmm 80K just to get it in the US. then im sure theres other taxes and DMV fees to add to the pile. Thats NSX and Ferrari 355 territory. I have seen a skyline in Manhattan though.. i had to stop and look twice!

you should be in cali. I know of atleast three places that import skylines, legalize them, and sell them to the public. You can get a R32, R33, and even a R34, but the 34 is a bit harder to get due to new regulations.

you cant

there is no legal way to drive it on us roads as a regular car

DOT wont let it go because of no crash testing

they crashed the r33 thats why you can drive that

r32 is a no go

it isnt rare enough either to fall into that catigory so meh

i have pictures of me working on skylines if you would like to see some credibility

In for more info since im east coast and want a skyline soon.

From what I hear you need to bring the car into Australia or Canada for a few months, and then you can legally transfer it to the USA. Im not sure how it works, but this is what I have heard.

yea.. I've researched about it back then.

You check this out motoRex : www.motorex.net/

Ok, these guys I know about there history.

You know that when you import a car over here they going to crash test your car and stuff so that cost a lot money and since you only have one car, so you don't want to do that.

MotoRex here, has spent millions of dollar to crash test and everything on the GTR already for all years. R32, R33, R34. So they have the paper work for you already, so you don't have to crash test your precious GTR.

Back then it would cost 25grand to do it with them. Now I don't know. You might want to read it and check it out.

If you can do it cheaper by all means.

Good Luck!!!

Why wouldn't you be allowed to drive something because of the drivetrain???

yeah, theres no company that legalizes Skylines... RBMotoring bought the plans from MotoRex but they are still trying to get passed by DOT and whatnot... That was like 4 years ago...

Go on www.freshalloy.com and under the Skyline section there should be more info. Sean on there is the one that use to run MotoRex but left when he saw what they were doing (ripping people off) so he started RBMotoring... You have a better chance on having one of those cars Florida and places without Smog checks... I believe you get it in as a kit car... A friend of mine in my apartment complex has a R32 and drives it everyday.
