If you want a bad ass twin turbo awd 6 cyl from japan get a VR4, they're cheap as dirt and you can put it in the 10s for under $4k

Ew. If you want a weak transmission, trasverse layout with a 60% front torque split, stupid 4WS BS, and a curb weight inexcess of 3800lbs then by all means. Having worked on them, one even making over 550hp (spitting out trannies like they are chewing tabacco.) all I can say about them is stay far away. Handling wise it feels just like its weight, which hangs way over the front end of the car. Loads of understeer and front tire wear. Oh, and you forget the stock massive brakes, they cant hold up for more then a lap around SIR no matter what you do.

i researched this heavily months ago and i believe there is no way you can do this ANYMORE, if i am not mistaken. I believe it was once legal and that is why there are R34s on US soil and roads, and i have seen multiple of them in the Seattle area myself, including two GTRs that park in the same spot in the internation district every night. But yes, it has to do with the crash testing. In order to get the car legal i believe you would have to provide multiple different R34s to be crash tested, which is just NOT worth it. move to canada.

The biggest thing by far holding them up is the lack of OBD2. It is not a simple fix. Motorex indeed did crash 9 cars. Front, side and rear for all 3 generations. The necessary modifications were also engineered and applied. The 96+ R33 and 99+ R34 were technically never legal because they never met the OBD2 requirement. Many were released with dealer tags.

Its basically the Supra of all nissans + AWD so better in some aspects. Its racing history goes Waaaay back. It is a legend, if you have money to waste go for it, legal or not, it you got that kind of money legality doesnt matter much.

To all the people simply posting that it can be done, and posting pics to prove it:

He said he wanted it LEGAL for daily use WITHOUT an awkward title. There are plenty of skyline GTRs of all generations legal to drive in the US. They all have crap titles. Kit car, registered as a 240, Race only, Display only, Dealer only... This is NOT what he is asking about. I've known 5-6 people who have owned them, and know a couple guys bringing them in to the US through various means of modification. One owns a 4 door GTS-T R34 that is rather well known, and his is the only R34 out of that group. The R34 is on a fedral watch list, and it's hard to argue similarity to imported vehicles like you can with the R32 or 33. Only one car was an early motorex car, and to this day, it was the only one that still has a legit free and clear title.

Gif, an R34 is a no go for a clean title here in the US. I would either sell the car, or take one of the more legitimate avenues above, and bring it in as a kit car. Good luck!

don't see how you could say there is no way to drive anything but the R33 when I've seen many R32's a a couple R34's on the streets around here.
Check out the cars in my signature. All four of them have tags and papers, but the R32 GTR is what I'd classify as a "gray market car." The guy who owns the R32 also has an R33 GTR that has the same paperwork. Both cars have 100% of the paperwork required by Federal law; Everything has been properly signed off, and all the t's have been crossed and the i's dotted. In addition, both cars have supposedly been given some kind of offical "release" from the Feds. However, IMO, it would be unwise to assume that the cars are really as squeeky clean and federally approved as the paperwork might seem to indicate. The owner claims it isn't so, but I'm pretty sure that the government can pick up the cars and crush them if they should decide to do so.

BTW, we just sold "Bigbird" and both the other Skylines are up for sale. If anyone is *seriously* interested, drop me a PM and I'll give you contact information.
