I used a meshed filter style setup on mine and lost 10whp across the whole powerband. 1-2 isnt bad, got a link to those filters?

UNI filters work for our 2 cars (4AGE) with ITBs. i havent tried it yet in my s2k. I have looked around for dfferent sizes uni but no luck.

i did install the screen mesh in between the horn and the tb instead of on top of the horn

here's a pic of the Fuji Racing mesh

Turbo_pwr - do you have pics of the special UNI made for Lance?

BTW, I've been racing my toyota Starlet with 4AGE and ITB for more than a year, no filtration at all, so far so good !!!

s2kennmark, I'll get some pics they are just sock type with a big spring to prevent it from getting sucked in. I just know that UNI wouldn't allow me or any other vendor order them directly. It had to be through Lance as they were designed for him I was told. I think it was around $100 for all 4 filters, mind you that was about 5 years ago so my memory might be off.

alejo and wildcardtrd - they were tested off and on with Shawn Church, Giles Gilbert, and XX Tuning on 3 seperate dyno tuning sessions and everytime I got the same result. 1-2 hp difference, so I don't think it made much difference.

alejo - after looking at your pic, I doubt you'd have room to get them on.

Have you guys actually done back to back dynos with and without filters? I only lost 1hp so I wouldn't worry about using proper filters on the horns.
dunno, we ran filters with my setup (Toda ITBs + AEM EMS) and lost 40-hp on a few dyno runs. Ran it again a few times without the filters and got the power back.

I thought about it, and concluded that it has as much to do with filter location as it does media. If the filters are too close to the inlet of the velocity stack, a pressure differential is going to develop between the low pressure space inside the velocity stack and the atmospheric pressure air being impeded by the obstructing filter. This will reduce the mass of the air charge by reducing the inlet velocity in the stacks and reducing the density of the air by impeding its flow. If the filters are held out further from the horns like the big Jenvey filter that doesn't fit under our hoods then there's enough plenum volume in the filter to maintain a decent density of air charge, and no obstruction at the inlet of the velocity stacks (nozzles, for all intents and purposes) to reduce inlet velocities.

yup I also tried putting on mesh filters at the bottom of the horns on the throttle buddy itself - trying to tackle the space issue - man was that a bad idea no power at all over 5000rpm

Josh,

I think you are going to love the ITB thing. You know what to do for the extra power with the ITB's.
