Hey guys! new to this ITB thing, as i am turbo.

Selling my turbo kit and wanna go back to na. I just spoke with MAC at Emerald performance. please tell me if this is true. He said i keep my stock ecu, dont need a tune, it utilizes all the stuff so i can pass emmissions, and gain around 20-30 WHP since i have header, 70mm tp, and 70 mm exhaust. IS that true? can that be possible? No tune, emmissions friendly, and reliable?

not true. need EMS, emmissions may be no good due to no air pump hook up. reliable, they can be.

not for our cars, Mac knows his ITB.... he works on old skool cars and can build ITB cars. He is the authorize jenvey dealer in the US.

Talk to Jimmy at FujiRacing.... he gets his Jenveys from Emerald.

It will work for our car. You'll definitely need a standalone. For sure you won't pass emissions in California.

Mac said on the phone that people have been messing up and throwing away some peices or something, and that there is a sensor that reads the air correctly and you still have to utilize that in order to use the OEM ECU. that sensor prevents the computer from "searching" for the right rpms and what not.

He said with the oem ecu, it will learn itself and i should be fine. he said having to get a EMS is a myth.

i'm very confused now. this is coming from Mac at Emerald performance.

You need a standalone for this car if you want to run ITB's. Case closed. There's too many parameters that you need to be able to adjust in order to tune these to run properly. Will it start up and run on the stock ecu? Maybe. Will it run right? Nope. You'll be too lean everywhere. Aside from not being able to get the fuel map and spark map tuned to optimal performance, your factory injectors will be pushed past 100% duty cycle. To maintain roughly the same duty cycle peak at WOT, you'd need 440cc/min injectors. The stock ecu doesnt like you changing its injectors out...

I am going to put ITB's in soon and going to use Jenvey's. I can have Emerald install them for me and see if the myth is True! What do you guys say?

It does start up on the stock ecu. I"ve tried it. I just messed with the fuel pressure to get it to a decent point.

Runs? Yah, idles and starts up well too.
Runs well? Not at all.

I just had to do it because I needed OBDII in my car so that I can fail the smog and get 3 months worth of insurance.

Anyway, I think that if someone really wanted to, they can get the ITB's to work with a piggyback. However, I don't think you'll be able to maximize on the potential of the ITBs.

About the injectors, my setup is currently using stock injectors. The duty cycle is under 80% at 48 PSI fuel pressure.
