Default J's Intake + ASM Rad Plate & STB installed

So yesterday I decided to install my J's intake and ASM radiator plate and STB. The install isn't really too difficult, except gauging how much to cut the underside of the hood. I had to recut the bottom portion several times to get the hood to fully close shut. The end result...

Now I have a few more questions...

1. My hood cannot be closed any longer using the 1 foot drop method. I have to let down until it clicks and push it down hard to shut it. Do I need to cut the bottom portion more to the hood to close normally? Here's a picture of my cut...

2. Durng the install, the intake got scratched up in a few places. What can I use to buff it out?

3. In some pictures, I've seen some people put something over the edges of the hood cut to make it look clean. What can I use?

Thanks everyone for helping me out!

nice pic mav

I can only answer question 1 and 2,

1. You hood wouldn't close from the 1 foot drop cuz the ASM plate covers part of the latch, so unless u drop from a higher place, it probabily wont catch it. My friend who runs the stock hood with Mugen intake+ASM plate has encountered the same problem, and he just pushes his hood to close everytime. I have the same setup (Mugen+ASM plate), and I do notice it is harder to close to hood after the installation of the ASM plate. I always pushed the hood to close cuz its the CF hood, but it was harder for it to close after the installation.

2. If its on the gell coat, it can be easily buffed out; if it got into the CF material, then it's permanent.

Mav,
try getting some black self adhesive stripping(like door edgeing) at home depot, then just cut it to fit

Or you can take a vaccum hose and split it open and then wrap the edge off the cut-out. iono, just a thought.

Thanks for the replies...

I fixed my hood issue by raising the hood latch by 3 mm.

I'll try to buff out the scratches later. Is car wax OK to use?

As for the edges of the cut, I'm using the soft side of velcro to cover it up for now. I'll look into rubber weather stripping this weekend.

@mav

I had to raise up the lock as well by couple of mm. Also some adjustment of the hood was needed in my case. I just wanted perfect fitment.
