Will soon find out. Motor is going in this weekend and finally tuning will be next week. Also the dragon is gona be a good datalogging event. I am estimating around 250-265whp NA without Itb setup on the car with pump gas. I have a methanol injection system going on once the car is tuning on gas. This will run along with the Nitrous system that will be in place. AEM ems is controlling this all. During race sessions I can run gas and a meth mix and run high ignition timing. Also Itbs will go on with EGT's for all runners of the header. This will let us be able to set fuel trims on all cyl. Tuning Itbs can be a pain if not done correctly. So I hate to say numbers without dyno results yet but I am hoping max hp all motor on high octane fuel should be around 280-290whp. When that is the case I will be throwing Toda Spec B cams in. For nitrous I will be spraying 100-150shot with methanol when I just want mad power or on days where I wana go to the drag strip or just smoke a car. You guys will see a post soon about the project. As for the intake mani's I have local places to do this work. I am a dis for ERL Performance Engines so if anyone would like info please let me know. Thanks

So, does the honed intake need any special tuning or just bolt on and go? What kind of power gains can you get?

I wouldnt touch the stock intake mani unless you have some headwork done. If you have the head done then you can match port it and match it to a bigger TB. Not bad to do it ,just have to figure out if its the right time to do it.

ERL_S2000, I was wondering about your Cometic headgasket, is that because you're running nitrous? Will that hinder your N/A performance, since it reduces compression? Sounds like a flippin sweet setup, on race gas I would expect that to be well over 300whp with ITBs -- best of luck!

There are many things that can effect compression. Using a Cometic gasket will not effect compression unless you use one that is thicker than stock. The stock gasket is a .030 @ 87mm . I used a .040 Gasket @ 89mm bore size. Now since I did go a little thicker, compression would come down, but I feel that since the block and head was done that some material was removed. That in turn will raise compression, So A thicker gasket was used. The real point of going to a .040 gasket was to make sure there is plenty of Piston/Head clearance. Alot of the Clearnace is made up in the Combustion chambers because the pistons come out of the hole. With a head gasket around .040 you are back at 0 deck or the pistons are right under the deck at DTC. Basicly I wanted to be able to turn the motor over without a headgasket on there. That right there shows me that I have around .030 -.035 tho in clearance. I wanted .040 tho of clearance so I went with a tad thicker gasket which only effect my compression ratio by .1 or so. Hope that explains it a little bit.

Ahh very nice, I was only aware of one headgasket that Cometic makes, it lowers the compressoin ratio by 1 (say from 11:1 to 10:1), which would definately make a difference on a car so tuned. Your idea makes a lot of sense though, if you're that worried about the clearance does that mean you're using oversized valves?
