Anyone going to the Cumberland series?

I went in 2007 and 2008 with a few folks from S2KI and had a good time. Nice relaxed event but still very competitive.

You can run either or both days.

And fast courses.

If you all want to put together a speed week thing, I know the coordinator up in Cumberland and might be able to work out some sort of more official s2000 speed week thing. Maybe get 5+ or so??

I was out and about that day and I saw the email with the "Listen Live" link. It was over by then though.

When we got there, I was somewhat incredulous as to the small size of the lot. It was between the size of Dover and the Petersburg, VA site that NASA uses. It was perfectly sized for the test and tune on Friday. But then, on day one, I realized that he Dixie Region knew what they were doing quite well -- the course used the lot so well it was amazing. The course was fast, technical, and intuitive. Awesome.

Day two was a nearly identical course in the opposite direction, and was even more fun than day 1.

It was totally worth the drive, and it was awesome to see how well my car handles in warm temperatures with all the changes made to it over the year. I was nervous that I would be playing catch-up since my car was still stock legal at the end of last year, and I needed time to test and tune. Dixie was the best form of testing I could ask for since we were up against top National drivers.

Didn't get any chance to do much other than perform a perfunctory comparison between the RS3 (my first time on them, and I like) and the Dunlop Direzza. The rest was just driving and getting comfortable with the car. Made large strides there. The car is amazing, and so kickass it's unreal. I have two test and tunes on the horizon before the points season begins, so I feel "caught up."

BTW: Minor Note: MIKE TROPHIED WITH A FIRST PLACE IN BSP

Side note to those thinking of going next year....I'd recommend a co-pilot for the drive down. There is really no fast way down, and it takes the full 13-14 hours to get there if you are towing. If you are unlucky, like me, with traffic it is 17-18 hours. Unfortunately I don't have any in-car from the event. The Z ran awesome. I need to manage my mistakes a bit better with only 3 runs. The course on Sat was good, but it went up to great in reverse on Sunday.

Jadrice absolutely killed it in his BS 2sk, Jeff. STR was great fun to watch, but I missed the first half of their heat getting the car prepped and onto grid for the next heat. The weather couldn't have been better all weekend, and I have the sun burn to prove it!

Yeah, Mike has some "issues" with traffic to say the least. We were concerned in my pack. I was not driving, so I was calling Mike like every 30 minutes for a span of about two hours to make sure he wasn't falling asleep. He had trailer complications, traffic in VA, got caught by a horrible accident in SC, was a sole driver, was borderline running late, needed to make changes to his car prior to the event's practice, which we all made only by about an hour or two, and other challenges.

I had my co-driver and his dad drive me down, and they took care of it all. It totally changed the dynamic. I would suggest booking a hotel in advance that you are forced to use, or get a co-driver like you said, in the future Mike -- we were actually really concerned about you, and your stubbornness and commitment to make it down there without stop were not making us feel any better.

Glad it all worked out. I even wonder if that dedication carried over into your driving. Based on the results, it did. Please drive down earlier next time.

Congrats though -- well deserved win and you literally smoked the competition.
