Good to see everyone out there…
Noel- Thanks for posting the videos, I need to set up my camera. What is the top speed for 2nd gear on your car?

Agreed. 16 people within 5.3 seconds of each other. That's pretty amazing. I don't feel bad at all for being the slowest in a fast crowd.

I have read a lot of the stuff from him. Ultimately a test pipe is best and the cat is by far the biggest restriction in our exhaust. I'm surprised to find out you noticed such a difference just going to a HFC. If I saw info from you sooner I could have told you the exhaust wouldn't do squat. When I had my first s2k I had the 70em single which supposed had gains of 10hp or so. Through it on the car and despite dropping 35-40lbs the car felt the same. A few months later I tossed on a test pipe and holy cow did it make a difference.

I will agree that at my level (I've done maybe a dozen autocross events) seat time will do more for me than any amount of car prep. However if I have the money to spend on the car on mods that have proven to make a difference then I'll help myself out as much as I can.

When I had the TP (everything else was stock) I was running the Toda Reflash. Car had some knock around 3-4000rpm and only at part throttle with the Toda reflash but on the OEM tune 0 knock no matter what I tried.

I recently picked up some brand new AST 4100s that I'll be trying out. They are replacing some high mileage KW Clubsports. Sure I lose compression adjustment but I think I'm on a higher quality more Race oriented shock. I think the KWs can handle the track fine but still believe them to be a fairly street focused shock. I need to get my spherical top mounts figured out.

Here is my current setup:
-AST 4100s 700/600 rates (I have 800lb springs too)
-Eibach front sway/AP2 rear sway
-17x9 +45 rpf1s w/255 RS3
-camber is -2.8 front, -3.1 rear.
-Ride height is right around 12.75 up front and 13 rear. I'd like to bring the rear down to 12.75 as well.

I plan to back off the rear camber a bit and see what that does. I haven't autocrossed the car though since playing with the suspension a ton so I might just leave the alignment as is for now. Based upon what most others are running though I think I'll need less in the rear or more up front.

The 05's are good until 2015. Pretty sure you will get your year sticker for SCCA at event 1.
00's are good til 2015. The rule states the current release (2010) and two previous (2005 & 2010) are legal.
Pretty sure the two previous includes 10. I know D.C. hasn't and won't accept 00 helmets. In fact, I haven't run with anyone recently who has (in the past year).

Nope, 2010 is current until the 2015s come out. I have a 2000 helmet and have had no issues at any of the tours, 2011 sticker on it and all.

It was all fun and games (in terms of time) until the 4th heat put the gauntlet down. 44.0 for Sammy in the Z06 and Burdette ran a mid 45 in ESP. Unfortunately Karen Kraus suffered a control arm failure and it took a while to clean up (it was 6:15 when they got it off course). They had good practice after mine did the same thing last week . I am thinking about making the drive up to NJ if I get the car running this week. I haven't gotten to really drive it in anger since Dixie.

Absolutely. I'm sure a good driver would be capable of winning locally in your car as it sits right now. Just start signing up for events.

I'll also say, autocross is much more fun when you spend your time racing instead of worrying about the prep level of your car The most fun seasons I've ever had auto-crossing were back when I ran a slow Saturn, but went to 30-40 events per season.

I would probably inquire prior to the D.C. Pro. I genuinely think you will have a problem. I have seen them turn away numerous 00's. It was my understanding and that of those I talked to, that the 00's were no longer legal.

Anthony: My car tops at 62. I think you can see it in the video at one of the two points (the second I believe). I used 3rd in Hershey, and would have here too for the first instance if it were not so damn slippery. The shift would have been worth about 0.6 I think. I would like to see Jon's video.

Steve: I had AST 4100s on my BMW Z4. I really liked them. My comments on your setup are as follows: (1) the offset on those wheels could cause you problems (ask Ricardo, #34 in the red S2k); (2) I believe this forum shows most national level drivers at more front camber now than rear (it seemed reversed last year). I am at -2.8F/-2.6 rear; (3) the spring rates for you might be better if you go higher since you will have rubbing issues. Spring rates vary widely, but it seems that you are on the softer end, but that might be better for our lot, but not accounting for your likely rubbing with those wheels; (4) I run 12.75 all around and it works, but on 850/700 springs and a big front sway bar. Ricardo is talking about raising his, I think he is at about 12.5" but has had major rubbing issues. I would suggest higher like 13" since you have softer springs and those wheels with wide offset. Might not look as good, but it will probably be better for racing.

VPS: Anthony is a good guy and I would definitely inquire further about his suspension. He takes good care of his things.
