Seat time is almost always the best mod. Right now I'm lucky if I get to one event a month during the season. Life is too busy for me to be able to do more than that.

For those of you guys with hardtops do you just pull them off the car and leave them in the lot? Secure it somehow? I've always been kind of wary of just leaving it out in the open.

Surprisingly I don't really have wheel rub issues and when they do rub its barely rubbing. Not enough I've ever felt it would hold me back or I'd destroy fenders although maybe I'm not driving hard enough. Fender lips are rolled completely flat though and I know it helps.

One other thing I'd like to get in the near future is a gopro or something similar so I can record and playback later.

The 05's are good until 2015. Pretty sure you will get your year sticker for SCCA at event 1.
00's are good til 2015. The rule states the current release (2010) and two previous (2005 & 2010) are legal.
Pretty sure the two previous includes 10. I know D.C. hasn't and won't accept 00 helmets. In fact, I haven't run with anyone recently who has (in the past year).

Nope, 2010 is current until the 2015s come out. I have a 2000 helmet and have had no issues at any of the tours, 2011 sticker on it and all.

They don't know what they are talking about.

(yes, this has 2011 on it but it is a direct link from scca.org cars and rules section)

I'm unaware of any changes from last year and clearly they were legal last year.

I'll send a message to a safety steward today for clarification.

Jeff, Are you planning on attending many DC area events this year? I'd definitely like to get up that way and run with everyone at least once or twice this year.

I should be up there in two weeks for the Pro, other than that I don't know. I'm sure I'll make my way back up there at some point.

B. Burdette says the 00's are good. He is a safety steward and does tech for nationals. He says 2012 rules also stipulate the same codes as the 2011 codes you referenced.

J's, but also experimented with SPC. Both seem nice. There is a segment of the STR Prep where the two are compared. I like the J's better since there are no sliding parts.
