Bleeding the clutch is very easy. I'll help you do it at the Bowie parking lot if you want.

SATurday September 15th Autocross

Harry Grove Stadium, Frederick, MD is the location of the next CDC autocross on SATURDAY September 15th. We will also have a Test and Tune SUNDAY September 16th.

Registration and tech inspection will be at 8:00 and will promptly close at 8:45 to try to accommodate the full field, while still giving 6 runs. You must be DONE by 8:45. So if you arrive at 8:00 you won't have a problem. Don't arrive at the last minute.

The event fee for the Saturday autocross is $30 for members and $40 for non-members at this event.

If you have problems, we can also print barcodes for you at the event.

SUNday September 16th Test and Tune Day

These Sunday Test and Tune Events will be held the day after the Saturday Harry Grove Stadium Autocrosses in Frederick , MD. The Test and Tune event will be an informal autocross using the same/similar course as the day before. The differences are the following:

1.Field is limited to 40 participants with about 5 organizers (for a total of 45 vehicles).
2.Times will be announced and recorded on the timesheet, but no results, no points, and no indexes will be posted –This is only for fun
3.No extra runs if we miss a time – This is only for fun
4.The format will be 2 heats with 5 morning and afternoon runs (number of runs in the afternoon will depend on time and weather conditions. We hope to give 9 to 11 runs).
5.No food or drinks will be provided – We need to keep the amount of equipment to a minimum. So plan on either bringing drinks and food or going out to lunch.
6.The entry fee is $35 per member, $45 for non-members.
All 40 slots will be given on a first come, first serve basis.

On-line Reservation System

Member reservations (or participants that will join the club upon showing up) for any events can be made at any time at http://www.capitaldrivingclub.com/ under the Schedule Tab. Open reservations for non-members for this event begin Friday September 7th.

Mercedes AutoX #6 this Sunday Sept 9th.

It looks like an MX5 has wrapped up the overall season but there is an epic battle for second place between two STR Miatas!

You got any videos of the lot? What's the grip level like, and what are the courses like? I haven't autocrossed in like three weeks now.. or is it four.. so maybe I should go since I'm off.

Courses tend to have decent run times (FTD in the 50's range), courses are a typical mixture of standard autoX elements (there will be a serpentine, a couple sweeping turns, a straight of two with some chicanes) and occasionally some not so typical elements like little skidpads (constant radious circle). Mercedes autoX will typically bang off rev limiter in 2nd for most cars. Surface is somewhat crappy asphalt and the lot is decent size for a local event with no light poles or any other issues. Overall competition is what you would expect from a small, local event although there will probably be a couple faster drivers.

Don's have a lot of video but here is some I found which will give you an idea of the lot size.

I had searched, so yeah I agree there are not many good videos of the lot, but that one you have with the red Miata was pretty good. Thanks. If I go then I will record and post like usual so they have some more footage. Probably a 60% chance I will go. Not that far from Frederick.

The nice thing is that you get 6 runs (usually also some fun runs at the end) and the whole event is over before 2PM.

Ok then. It looks like walkup registration only, is that right?

By the way, I am seriously considering making my region Susquehanna for next year since its about the same distance to Hershey from where I am now, and the lot there is far better than Fedex. The only sad thing is that there isn't nearly the degree of competition. I feel that to make my car "perfect" I need a lot that has representative grip of what I can expect at most events. Fedex was frustrating this year. For example, Fedex likes a super soft front bar (which I hate, and never actually set as soft as I should have), Fedex likes a rear sway bar (every other location is best with no rear bar and 5/6 or 6/6 front sway bar).

But the courses at Fedex are very technical, which helps from a driving perspective - especially when combined with the stiff competition. But I have learned that car setup is everything. So I'm not sure what I'm going to do next year, but likely a lot of NJ and PA events and less to no Fedex events.

LOL did you see the results from the last SCCA Susquehanna event? Brian and I where there at the 8-26 event AM & PM but he drove a STX BMW in the PM My link

Definitely a good group, courses are fast and combine good elements in a more predictable surface. However there was a serious accident at the event while I was working, I am guessing it was more driver error than a course design issue, but it definitely made me realize that even though autocross is considered low risk, there is still a big chance that bad things can happen…
