Installed new rear wheel bearings yesterday, wasn't actually too bad. Glad I bought new hubs though, old ones were looking pretty rough.

I don't think 18s are a bad idea if you can afford the tires. You can actually find wider tires in 18s which is why the S2000 that ran in the world challenge series ran them.

This.
This car is also running them for that same reason. https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/673..._hl__unlimited

Since we are on the topic of tires, what do most of you guys run for an R-Compound tire? What are your favorites?

If you still want to be able to drive to and from the track on them then I think your best choices are the Nitto NT01 or Toyo RA1.

I ordered NT-01's this morning. I'll let you know how they hold up.

Nice. $100 a tire for your little 15" wheels?

I have run RA1 and NT01. I preferred the RA1s, but they are really similar. Buy whichever is cheaper. If you buy the RA1s you need to shave them. They suck without shaving them and they actually last LONGER when shaved.

And don't drive home in the rain. ;-)

I think you are going to like them, David. I ran an old NT01R last year and they handles pretty good for my driving. At SP Main it gives me a lot of confident going WOT (flat out ) coming out of T5 while building speed thru 9 if I get right coming of T5. They warm up pretty quickly but you can over cook them after about 6 laps, at the same time though they are easy to cool down once you feel it getting greasy. I may have to get another set and then maybe progress to A6 or something.

I would imagine with the turbo I will be driving hard for a few laps and then taking a cool lap to keep the engine cool so it should help the tires, too. I just can't wait to get back on track!

I guess the question wouuld be, in an r compound tire, how much wider do you need to go than the 255? Would a wider tire get up to optimal temps?
I overheat 255 NT01s with a stock engine, so larger will be better for putting down FI power but it will affect the handling balance. For anything other than full throttle the car will understeer like a truck if you go too wide in the rear.
