Nice Write up Rob...you need to add a milling machine to the tools needed for that job. Now I am even less motivated to tackle the bushing job.

Who's going to Hypermess?

A chance to miss drunken rednecks brawling? Of course I will be there.
I haven't signed up to instruct yet since I haven't fixed the Vette's ping issue, now the instructor group is wait-listed . I go on the list, I will just run the Miata. maybe I should check the brake pads on it?

Just run the Miata. You don't need brakes. I might run my Abarth one day.

You are probably faster in the Abarth than me in the Miata.

Abarth is faster in straights but does not turn well. It sounds cool with the straight pipe exhaust. Guess I need to order some brake pads for it.

Also, does anybody know if the clubs like Porsche or Mercedes allow other cars to run in their events? I remember last year there was a Mercedes event some people did.

For example https://www.motorspo...3B#.UZ0Qzcq_tek
Be careful with the Porsche guys, they require a lot of pre-event tech stuff. Not easy to track with at all but a good group of guys.

Mercedes events are mostly non Mercedes! I like their events because they are low key with small turn outs.
Thanks, I'll keep these in mind. Always nice to know there are other options than just NASA, TrackDaze, and SCCA.

I'm going. Racing a race car that "hopefully" won't blow up this time (read: the S2000, not the Volvo). However, there were a lot of metal shavings in my oil filter when i changed the oil this weekend, so maybe I'll manage to blow up a Honda at Hyperfest. If that happens, this weekend is definitely cursed.

Stop by and see us in the paddock.

This a new engine? Maybe it is break-in particles? Very small and fine, like mush? Or bigger? What oil are you using?

Matt, are you running an oil pan baffle and did you add an accumulator? I'm beginning to wonder if oil pan baffles may be hindering the return of oil to the pickup in long sweeping turns like Summit's Turn 9. I'm adding an oil pressure idiot light so I'll know if the oil pressure is dropping in long turns. The warning light looks like a shift light so it'll get your attention.

This is the original engine with 35k miles on it. Starting tracking it at 17k miles and basically never used the car for anything else.

Its small/fine particles. Castrol Syntec/Edge 10w-30 synthetic.

I am running a pan baffle and an oil cooler but no accumulator. I do not have a oil pressure light but plan to add an oil pressure gauge. You may have a point about the baffle not letting oil back down to the pickup. Another issue may be running the stock oil "cooler" and a second adapter plate for the oil cooler may result in pressure loss.

Or, I've just driven the hell out of this engine and got my money's worth. 6 years and ~10k track miles is a good run. I'm going to run it till it blows and then drop in a AP2 motor and beat on that for a while.
