2015 Track Junkie Thread
I had a roll bar installed by Olegator and my friend David. Itvtook a full day with two people, and that's not reinstalling plastics. But I have no regrets. I agree with mike, the headrest speakers aren't good. You should install a roll bar and custom fabricate something that covers part of the roll bar and houses some larger rear speakers, then you have the best of all worlds.
Also it's not really "hacking" up much... Yes you have to cut into the wheel wells but this is not noticeable and you could fill in the cuts if you ever remove the roll bar. You are drilling a few holes, but again those would be covered if you reinstalled the interior plastics. It's definitely reversible mod, it would just be time and effort. But once you get an experience on track, you'll probably be glad to have it!

Just my 2 cents..
The OEM rollhoop speakers are garbage. I disconnected them before installing my rollbar. A headunit/2 channel amp/decent components and you won't miss them one bit.
I cant remember how long my rollbar install took, I believe the better part of 2 days. That's with reinstalling a lot of plastics. I reinstalled them not only for cosmetic reasons, but I believe they do help keep the noise in the cabin down a little.

I did the same, I might be installing another one in the spring.
^Nice. I can't wait to see it. Will it drive or just roll in neutral with people pushing it?
Will it see any track time or do you have to break it in first this year with street driving?
Anybody need rear Carbotech XP8 pads or a used Recaro seat for this upcoming season? PM me.

I signed up for the May and October Summit Point Track Daze events yesterday. Will be taking the new testa rosso bambino to explore it's limits. These are the only two announced events that I can do with my standard roll hoops as I'm not adding the roll bar just yet. Just ordered a new SA2010 Impact helmet to replace my M2000. I've done a FATT before which was with required instructor for the first few times on course. At a first and second Track Daze weekend do they do the same or is it solo with the same point passing allowed? So, I'm $750 lighter but looking forward to a new track layout in a new car. Anyone else doing these days?

I'm pretty sure I'll be there, as will I'd guess a bunch more s2k owners. Have you done many track days before? If you haven't been on Shenandoah then you'll probably have an instructor, likely in blue group. Honestly, you definitely want an instructor on Shenandoah if you haven't run it before, as it's a tricky track w/ some screwy off camber parts which makes the optimal lines non-intuitive. They'll solo you after a few sessions if they're comfortable w/ your driving. Point by's are limited to the "straights," which there are 3 of. See you out there.

Actually it's almost to the rolling in neutral stage. Should have wheels and tires for it shortly. The seats are on their way. Hoping to finish the coolant system up this weekend and then torque a lot of the suspension down.

Digging in at 1g after getting that Bimmer on the last straight.
I've done one FATT in the V70R. Had a great instructor and he couldn't believe the lap times and cornering capability of the wagon. Dropped lap times significantly each session, very humbling being on track. That day was on the big Summit Point course so doing 125-130 down the straight by end of day and then destroying my rotors/pads repeatedly. Passed every single car in the rookie class that day except a young guy in a new Mustang GT and he wrecked it on the last session screwing me out of my last two laps. Overtook Mini's, SC430, SLK, Boxster, 335, 235, 225 and the rest and on the final run of the day, got this Ferrari (pic). (I'm sure some of those folks weren't pushing their cars as hard as I was but I was doing well).
The Volvo has 300 hp and 295 ftlbs but with the added weight so was craving more HP with the AWD by the end of the day. I turned off the DSTC to try to feel the limit and was very happy that it was so neutral, neither deep understeer and never snapped to oversteer.

Leaving the Porsche behind (he wasn't happy after cracking "baby seat" comments in the lot first thing in the morning! Lifting rear wheel at max G's.
Yeah, I watched some S2000 laps on YouTube on that course and noticed some interesting lines.
My final victim of the day at my first FATT. He just sat in his car with the AC on for 1/2 an hour at the end of the day with head in hands after a Volvo wagon passed him!
