So on a completely unrelated note...

What's everyone's feeling on the BFG Rivals? Do they hold up long term to the heat? I'm due for new tires and they're so cheap right now I'm having a hard time telling myself to wait for RE-71s or buying the ZII Star Specs, especially when it's close to a $150 price difference, that's like 3/4 of a track day.

I'm not doing TT or autocrossing, just nice weather DDing and a few HPDE2 days; I just want something that'll hold up to the heat well.

No need to wait for RE-71r, Tire Rack has been shipping them for several days.

The new toy is the Bambino S2000. Working on a new job right now that would have a company car, so the VR could be going up for sale.
Didn't mean to confuse.
Ok I'm definitely a little confused but all good..

Good to see another s2k at the event. Your s2k has a FR turbo kit? It'll be interesting to see how it holds up over the course of a session. Nice ride.
Yes SlowTeg, Full Race Stage 3 Turbo Kit. I talked to the shop that installed it (JoTech Motorsports in Garland, TX) and they said it wasn't really meant as a track car install and the turbo mount wasn't meant for high G cornering, more for street rod use. That worries me a bit as does the rush of power from the turbo and V-Tech and how I'll be able to modulate it on the track. My Volvo is very linear in power delivery and in my very limited experience, getting used to the S-2000 power coming on causes an immediate traction control event so It'll be interesting. The Dragon event should teach me a lot more about handling in the twisties and modulating the power. The guys at JoTech also said that heat would be an issue and I may have to go with full time fans and to let it idle for five minutes after each session. I'm considering taking a small generator and a box fan to blow on the front of the car after each session. Brakes will be the other learning experience.

I have them and I like them. Some people are hating on them, but once you get the scrubbed in, I think they are good. Are they discontinued already? I feel like I just got them...

Ya, "priorities straight" is a funny term when it comes to car stuff. I can't tell anyone with clear conscience to come out to the track and throw money into the bottomless pit vs. buy a house. Good to hear you'll be out there this year either way.

Kevin don't be hatin on the minivan. If I get one I might have to throw some R comps on it and get a point by from you.
