2016 Track Junkie Thread!
Seriously. They way they were making it sound I thought it was going to be ready last year.
In other news for NJMP next week, I'm waiting until the last possible day on the father's day discount to see what the weather is going to do. I'm not heading back there if it's going to be in the wet again - It seems like a really fun track in the dry though.

Here is my best lap at Pocono last night.
To say I missed Brian in the instructors seat is an understatement.
I had my buddy in the passenger seat as a ride along.
All in all, TNIA is a fun event. Nobody crashed. First session in intermediate was super slow. 2nd was better. 3rd was the best!
I'm going back in August if anyone is interested.

Looks like you did just fine without me man. Nice run. A few of us are going in the beginning of July with ACNA-NJ.
So NJMP yesterday was awesome. I'm more and more sold on this whole TNIA thing. They just need to get dominion up and running, and maybe see if they can get some track time at Summit Point too and we're all set.
I ran into another couple of S2k owners from Baltimore while I was there; we all ran in the green run group. My best lap time was 1:47, and I was clicking off 1:47-1:48 consistently in the 3rd session. Also, I need new rear tires and better brake pads. The stoptech street performance pads just don't hold up with AP2 sized rubber now.
Obligatory track videos:
Run 1

Run 2 - I got stuck behind an Evo who didn't know how to point by, and then went off because I got a little aggressive through turn 2

Run 3 - This one was awesome if I do say so myself. The brakes were starting to really make their limits known though

Has anybody run the Hawk DTC-30 aka the new Street/Race (they re-named the compound from what I understand)? I'm thinking about going that direction next. Either those or the PMu HC+800

Regarding pads, I ran DTC60's and I'd say they were pretty solid. My only complaint was that a set of pads only last 5-6 track days, but I think that's more an issue with the small oem brakes than anything. I tried staggered dtc 60/30's at first, and staggered pads on staggered tires is terrible and quickly switched to dtc60's all around. I think you're thinking of the DTC-50. I'm not sure how it compares but it might be worth a shot. If you got any other questions just lemme know.
I'm hoping to run into you at one of these events so I can check out your seats.
Hopefully Dominion is up and running sooner than later..
I was on RS-3s on AP1 wheels before, and I'm on Rivals right now on the AP2s. I actually took the rears down to the wear bars yesterday, so I'll probably be replacing those with some RS-3v2 in the near future since they're the closest in handling characteristics to the old Rivals. I'll get a matched set of something once I kill the fronts.
On another note, the rear Rivals didn't last long at all, though I do have a 90 mile round trip commute and drive the car once a week. I only got 2 track days in the year and a half owning them though, which was disappointing. The fronts are wearing really well though.
As for brakes, I still want a pad that can do dual duty, which I know limits my options and results. Hopefully the new Hawks work out for me.
I also need new harnesses, my current ones expire this month. I'm probably going to have to budget this all out over the next 2 months, and just plan to have the car ready for fall events. Our summer is pretty jam packed anyway.

I'll be the first to say there's no good street/track option with the oem brakes. If you get a Stoptech BBK, running their street pads is doable on track, but on the OEM brakes no way. Any of the DTC line are really track only IMO, as the working temperature range is too high. I'm sure you could occasionally drive with them on the street and possibly be alright, but they will be noisy, wear down the pads and rotors quicker, and not stop very well.
I thought the expiration dates on harnesses were only for actual racing..? If you're just doing HPDE's I wouldn't worry about using expired ones personally..
No alignment recently, but I've always had to replace the rears at about double the rates of the fronts. I do generally abuse the hell out of the curbing, so it could be a possibility.
As for the street/race, they're supposed to be a modified DTC-30 compound that maintains the same upper-end temp characteristics while lowering the bottom end to 100F so they'll function on the street.
And finally as far as the harnesses go, If you look at the safety rules most orgs and tracks put out, a good number of them say if you're running harnesses they must be current. The last thing I want is to get to track and fail tech because my harness is expired. I'll probably just do the driver side though. A new G-Force FIA is $150 from Amazon, so not a huge expense.
