2016 Track Junkie Thread!
Dominion update.
I had a long convo with my neighbor and what he is telling me is scary for any potential drivers on Dominion. From what he told me, I would be shocked if they will have the track ready for 2016. They really want to hold TNIA, but they want it to be super safe for their drivers, which is not happening because Dominion is not moving on the needed fixes.
When they built the track, they made the course with no real input from the clubs. They also dropped the asphalt then decided to work on the grading of the runoff water, which is the real issue. There are a lot of places where there is a drainage ditch(like a v shaped deal) where you can totally turn over with no real effort. There is also a huge drainage pool that needs to be filled in. It's just one hot mess. The tires walls are not bolted together. There are tire walls that have to be totally moved. It's just a countless number of issues that will take months to get fixed.
The biggest issue really is, all the clubs don't want to step on each others toes by ok'ing a unsafe track. If one says ok, then the others will get pressured to run the track. As we all know, all clubs run differently.
I also heard the owner is in the hole by millions and is slow to let go of the funds to make these fixes.
Cliff notes. Summit point might be a better option for track time locall for Summer 16'. What a bummer.

That's unfortunate news for Dominion. Thanks for the update.
What I don't understand is how the track's designers weren't aware of the various major clubs' requirements. They have to know, that is what they are being paid for. Unless the company/investors decided to forego a lot of the designer's recommendations for the sake of deadlines and cost savings.

What a disaster.. Thanks for the heads up on Dominion. I guess I'll just cross that off the list for the time being. Even if they eventually do get it "fixed," there are definitely some issues with the track layout which will probably necessitate a whole lot of walls. Amazing how they didn't plan accordingly for these things but I never cease to be amazed.

. Mental note to everyone. If you want to have any money in your pocket, stop before having kids.
So my Dominion rumors were true to some extent.
