Another Mid-A Windshield Replacement
I was driving last week in the little bit of snow and ice that we received. While I was driving a little rock chip decided to expand. I got the opportunity to watch the thing crack progressively across the entire windshield (what an honor let me tell you).
Does anyone know of any shops around the MD/DC area that they would recommend. I am mainly concerned on quality here, but am not looking for a sky high price.
Any recommendations are appreciated.
Thanks-
Swan

Been through that a couple of times with other cars. Can't say I've been impressed with anyone. Most places I've been to just don't seem to care.
A couple of years ago my wife had Safelite replace the windshield in her Passat. The first one they put in at her office in Towson. That one wasn't put in correctly and leaked. We took it to the Safelite office in Columbia off Snowden River so they could correct what the first guy did. That place ended up breaking the first one trying to fix the seal. Then they pulled it out without having the right one to replace it with. It took a few days for us to get the car back.
Hopefully someone can reccomend a place.
Good luck

Check out Harmon Autoglass. They guarantee their product and labor. A friend of mine had his Element's windshield replaced up in MD at a Harmon. I believe that Glass Doctor owns them now (www.glassdoctor.com ?) so give them a call.
The market is price-competitive so they will match/beat competitors prices.
I had mine done at a Harmon here in Richmond a few days back and have not had any problems with it during the snow and rain we had the past week.
Hope this helps.

I see Champion Autoglass is recommended for an OEM replacement - any ideas for a "harder" glass solution? I'm not at all happy with the way the OEM glass has worn and would like to find something a little tougher. Any recs?
Thanks,
Brendan

I actually haven't gotten the windshield replaced yet. I wanted to wait out the winter in case it got hit again. I'm gonna be looking shortly to replace it, but haven't really done any research in the subject.
Did yours crack?

Don,
I got a rock chip that has spidered a bit already. I am getting Champion Autoglass to come out tomorrow for a repair. I don't need a full replacement yet.
Smart to wait out the winter. Only trouble is, now there are even more construction projects underway = more rock-toting dump trucks on the road!
