Default Carmax

Have any of you sold a car to Carmax without buying one? I wanted to get a ballpark number before I take my S there next weekend.

Ron (screen name, Ron) sold his Toyota Tundra to Carmax about a year or so ago...he was thrilled with their offer. I think he was done with paperwork and check in hand in less than 45 minutes.

PM him for more info...

Tried to sell one of my other cars there once. They offered me money for it. Not very much though.

Carmax sells cars pretty cheap, so they're not going to offer very much. It is easy though, and I've heard stories where they've offered more than they should've, but I think thats pretty rare.

Cool thanks. I see they have a '00 Silver with 55,000 miles at the Laurel,MD location for 17k, so I'm hoping they will give me somewhere around 15k for mine.

Its worth a shot, its very easy. they take it for a drive and come back with an offer in 10-15 minutes. I would clean it up really well though before you go.

I sold a car to them back in 2002. They gave me a pretty decent deal. More than the dealer offered but less than I would have gotten private sale of course.

I would certainly ask, I can't see why they wouldn't. I wish I had asked, but I didn't think of it at the time.
