Thanks.Good to hear they took car of your car. The sale is going to be a PITA since i don't have the title, so it seems easiest to do if i sell it to a dealer.
I was guessing you still have lien on the car when you said you don't have the title. If that is the case I have same experience a year ago when I sold my 2005 Mazda 3 (4dr, 5 speed). They offered me 1K lower than what I owe so I gave them the cash then walked out of there in 35 minutes. Record shows my loan was paid off, a plus to my FICO score.

BTW it's the best offer I can find after checking the figures from KBB, I could have gotten even if I sold it privately but I don't have the time and patience to do it. Overall I was satisfied.

Hope this helps, good luck man.

The beauty of most carmax's is that they are close to dealers. You can get them to give you an estimate 1st, then go to the stealership. If the stealership is lower, show them you offer from carmax, if the stealership is higher, then you win.

I see not harm in getting a no hassle offer, even if others have been lowballed.

Yeah private sale will always net you bigger bucks, but 10k? Wow.

I sold my WRX to carmax and they gave me a great price way better then any of those we buy your car places. They beat them by thousands and gave me almost the full perfect condition trade in price with two big dents in the car. This was back in April though before everything tanked really bad. Its worth a shot, doesn't cost you anything but time.

I think they give you a really good price if they want to sell it in their store but lowball the crap out of you if they think they will have to auction it.

Also when I brought it in the guy I dealt with said that my car wasn't in demand so they were going to give me a crappy price. I almost walked away but decided to get it apprised anyway, turns out the actual appraisal was $5k more then he said they would give me for it.
