Default Detailing the Car!

Got a few days off this Thanksgiving Holiday. Claying the car ... removing swirl marks with my Porter Cable and Zaino'ing the car (4-5 coats). Will post pics with the results of my effort.

I did 3 cars over Labor Day weekend. Won't make that mistake again.

OP, post up some before shots too if you can.

OK guys ... took me 7.5 hours to do the following ...

Washed car with Dawn detergent to get old wax off

Brought car into garage and clayed the car using Meguiars claying system. Even though my car has been garaged since new and probably got rained on 4-5 times ... claying got the finish silky smooth.

Next, used Meguiars Scratch X2 and my Porter Cable 7424XP to cut the paint system using Lake Country pads. This does not hurt the clear coat system. If you guys don't have one of these machines ... get one ... what a HUGE difference to the finish even before Zaino. Spider/swirl marks are all gone.

Next, Zainoed the car 5 times using Zaino Z2 with ZFX accelerant. This part took about 3 hours because you have to wait at least 30 mins before applying each new coat. And I'm not kidding ... with each coat the finish got more optically reflective.

The results ....

I've used many polishing products and Zaino was my first time. But the results are nothing more than outstanding! The paint has a mirror finish. You can read the details of a fine print newspaper (remember reflection is reversed). Try this on your car ... if you cannot make out the letters in a typical newspaper ... then your finish does not compare. The amazing thing ... my car is 11 years old and it looks BETTER than when I bought it new!

Zaino is not cheap (about $60 for Z2, Z6 and ZFX) ... but they require that you perform the above steps before you use their product.

It will be sunny tomorrow and will take pics to post and show very soon.

Phillip
