I believe its what pumps clean air in so you can pass your emissions test... other than that I hear alot of people cap it off for one reason or another..

I'm not sure you can simply "cap" it on the S2000. On some of the earlier smog regulated cars, you could just unbolt the air pump and throw it away and the car didn't care. With the S, it might be a whole different story. The air pump shoves clean air into the exhaust side of the engine to help complete the burning of any products of incomplete combustion when the engine is warming up. Since this car has double O2 sensors in the exhaust system, not pumping clean air may affect how those sensors will read, resulting in issues that might not otherwise arise.
