Might well be that your insurance company is going to tell you *their* auto glass shop. At least, that's how Nationwide's Blue Ribbon Policy is for me. And I don't complain because these damned windshields crack ALL THE TIIIIIIIIIIIIIME!!!!!!

So I talked to Progressive today and Im pretty much stuck with using their "preferred" glass service. Oh well, I hope they do a good job...

btw, Dave this is the bad luck I was talking about with this car. I noticed the broken windshield after leaving the headlight clearing last saturday!!

Ask the "preferred" glass service if they offer little "crack saver" clear static vinyl do-dads. I keep some in my trunk and would have offered one if I'da known. They're designed to apply to the crack (like smaller than a quarter) before it starts to run, before water gets in and adds to the destruction, before grit gets in similarly. They don't "fix" the crack by any means...they just often keep it from spreading .

Ive used that stuff before. I try to catch these cracks before they spread, unfortunately this one stayed under my radar until it was too late. Oh well, getting it fixed on tuesday with a $100 deductible which isnt that bad.

$100 deductible for glass?! WOW! I had better check on mine. I've had two of those static dots on my windshield for quite some time. They really do help "stop the bleeding!"

Also, this is another time when I miss Arizona. We had free glass repair! No deductible at all. I've been told that VA doesn't allow for that.

FF2Skip: You should be fine with the static dots as long as there is no chance of water settling in and freezing. The way I see it $100 isnt that bad compared to the total cost of the repair which they estimate will be around $500!
ricosuave: thanks for the info but ive already scheduled my apointment, maybe next time ill check out harmon glass(hope there isnt a next time)
