Default Help, OEM or Replica?

Hey guys,

Mo (Simplegreenvr6) found an AP2 Front Lip painted in white for sale on Richmond's Craigslist. The seller contacted me back after a few missed calls from me and I tried to initiate a conversation but I couldn't understand him through his heavy Hispanic accent. I asked a few times whether or not the lip was OEM or Replica and he replied it was OEM. But the guy sounded like he didn't know what those terms meant. He lives about 20 minutes away from me and I told him that I was very interested but for the price it seems a little sketch. Can anyone help me out in distinguishing if this lip is OEM or not?

Considering I don't see any weather stripping, I'm saying replica.

And some of the edges don't look perfectly straight.

That's a bit of a buzz kill. I honestly can't tell the difference between OEM and replica especially when you pointed out the edges. I was assuming it was OEM because it's painted and it looks untouched. I'm on the debate of purchasing the thing since I'm meeting up with the guy tomorrow in Midlothian at 3P.M.

I don't know... it does seem like it has the adhesive pads and the mounting brackets seems to be there too. Usually, replica arent very detailed with these stuff.
Compare the pics I found online:

OEM

Replica

I'm hoping to get more opinions from other people on this because now it's 50/50. You brought up a good point as well. I also did do some research and some OEM lips don't necessarily come with the weather strip.

Good point. But I'd rather be safe than sorry. There are probably a ton of companies out there that make a replica, and I doubt they would all be the same.

Looks like a good replica if it is one. It has all the spots for the double sided tape as well. The people who painted it may have removed the weatherstripping

I wish I could have one of you guys come with me to see it personally tomorrow since I'm new to all of this. I'm still 50/50 on this judging by peoples responses. Do you guys think I should go for the buy?

Find out what the going rate is for a replica lip...offer below that amount. That way even if you bought a replica lip, you still scored a deal.

The price is still good even if the lip is replica because it's already painted. Unless you were planning on repainting it then you should lower the asking. If it is OEM, this deal is a steal! Win/win to me imo
