Default Hit and (almost) run...

Well, some marginally bad news. I was on my way to Chincoteague a few days ago.

Merging after the toll going over one bridge or another (doing about 2 miles an hour in bumper to bumper traffic) some oblivious old woman in a pickup decided to sideswipe me, and didn't even seem to notice.

I pretty much didn't have a chance, and initially I thought she was going to tear the whole front fender off. I'm screaming at her the whole time, and I got absolutely no response. After much yelling and gesticulation, I finally managed to get her pulled over down the road. I also got my first look at the damage.

Initially, I thought "the car is F$#cked". Big giant tires mark ala Nascar on the drivers door, and a few other messy looking spots. I confess, I almost cried. My car is a 2000, and its got its share of battle scars, but this was just such a stupid way to get one, that I was really pissed off.

So we stop for gas, I get out and start seeing what I can salvage. And miraculously, the tire marks come off with almost no trace. The only real damage is a nice ding about 3 inches long in the door, and another right above the rear tire.

On the plus side, I got about 28 MPG on the way up and back

Which brings me to my question:
Anyone know a good bodyshop in the area? I'd like to get the dents fixed at the very least. It could use a little paintwork, but honestly, the car has enough other visual imperfection that I'd be happy if the sheetmetal were just straight. Preferrably, if there are any PDR places that send a guy to the car, that would be perfect.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Grant, i'm really sorry to hear that this happened. i know of some good shops, but its in the Hampton Roads area, so it wont be much help to you.

Glad you were able to get her pulled over though, sorry again to hear about the car though

I think dent wizard would do the trick- paintless dent removal.

They charge by the dent- so its going to be a fixed amount.
I say if its a ding and theres little-to-no actual paint damage that you take it there.

I have no trust for bodyshops- they've violated me time and time again.

Yeah, not that it did any good to get her pulled over. It's not even worth filing a claim for

What a bummer...I hope I don't encounter that woman. Sounds as if she shouldn't be driving at all! Hope you get a fix soon. I've used a couple of body shops for my previous cars, but not this one. PDR sounds like the way to go.
