Always always go to court.

There is a chance that the cop won't show up, the judge being more lenient (not always the case). If you just pay the fine it admits guilt instantly.

They might give you probation before judgement and a driver improvement course (been there). hope for the best

cops have all the tickets they issue on the same days so 99% of the time they will show up best thing to do is change the court date that way the cop has to come at an inconvenient time and will be more likely to bail on one person than an entire book of tickets. its a science i know very well unfortuinatly ...

oh and perhaps i am stating the obvious but if he does not show you say not guilty !!! and they cant do anything abot it

that or they go to court - and collect overtime. it's a great way to pad their paychecks too.

Ummm, no. But without the officer there to back up his ticket the judge may be lenient and reduce your fine...but if the ticket was for almost 20 mph over the speed limit, essentially no judge is going to let you off.

maybe in va but in md they cant prove you wrong so they have to

It was on a freeway, i dont think i can talk my way out of this one as the state trooper said that he has this audio and visually recorded. But this is my second violation ever. I was going 19 over the speed limit
