Well Alex I've been expecting it for some time now. on the job you've done. Unfortunately our other CO has gone AWOL so if there isn't a new one to replace you January 20th we'll be COless. That should bring J running.

Ric - definitely needs to stay SOVA.

Deb - I'll sticky this eventually. Nobody really pays attention to the stickies, so I'll leave it in circulation a little longer. Hopefully someone will say he/she wants to be a CO in a PM to me - the people I've approached are still thinking about it.

Mark - I've had email communication with her, and she says she is coming back but she nevers says when <----just for her

Everyone else - Thanks

Nah I don't think I should be a CO...

at least not yet

on the job you've done Alex... If someone can put up with all of my random posting and whoring, they definitely are a good CO.

Hell you went so far as to have a subforum made speficially for whoring and then created a thread specifically for me to whore in

man!!!

I hope our next CO will be as understanding and lenient

Point! don't tell me you're leaving us as a CO. Hopefully you'll still stay active in the forum. Thanks for keeping this forum clean.

With Alex's permission, permit me to post some ideas/thoughts. If we need to move the discussion to another thread, then lets do it.

MID A is a large community just in terms of the area that it covers. From the PA state line to the southern VA state line. I think we can agree its a big area.

Would the concept of 3 COs for MID A be a stretch? SOVA, NOVA and MD?? Despite the short distance between NOVA and MD, the travel to either place from the other is a pain. If stuff gets scheduled in the Balto area, how many NOVA peeps can make the trek (potentially around 2 beltways)? Consider the PITA it would be for the gang from SOVA to make that trip?

Having a CO for each of the "major" regions in the MID-A allow for more "local" events. Each CO concentrating on their own back yard (as it were), and if the other areas can make it...the more the merrier.

Adding one more CO adds an additional leader and "fresh" mind to the idea pool. IMHO.

As for keeping the CO from becoming a burden to the individual, what about making the CO a limited term (not trying to turn this into anything resembling Politics....we'd need a sub forum )
One year or2 year stints and then the position is open to be filled again (even by the same person if that is in the best interest of the group? ...again just throwing out ideas.

I saw your post last night about stepping down. Its been good to have you in the CO position.

Standing by.....
Steve

^ HAHA...you kept up with recent events, I see. As for three COs, it's not a bad idea, but finding peeps willing to step up is difficult.

Steve, while a great idea in principle, finding 3 folks to manage regional CO efforts could prove daunting in and of itself. Truth is, the CO acts more as a regional moderator and facilitator presently. [The Mid-A] forum has a fantastic group of members...many of whom take it upon themselves to encourage a group meet, etc. Personally, I believe even a single, well-motivated, responsible forum CO can achieve successful group meets through the use of these more motivated regional members. It really should not take multiple COs IMHO.

That said, I would reiterate that anyone considering becoming a CO should be well-motivated and responsible.

Alex, you have done a GREAT job as CO for the Mid-A community! . I've appreciated your candor and know that you've put your heart into the members' needs throughout your tenure. Excellent job!
