Default My car was broken into

just a heads up to anyone who lives in the bethesda area. . .my car was broken into last night. it could have been a lot worse, but all they took was my ipod. no signs of forced entry. i know i locked the car, so im pretty sure they either used a jimmy to unlock the car, or previously got a key cut using the vin.

looking over the car, i saw they were going for the ECU. . .but failed when they realized the plastic kick panel cover was too puzzling to remove. they had also tried to take my wheels, but failed at removing the lug nuts that are shaped differently than your everyday 19MM socket.

started installing my new viper 5701. I hid everything real well. the siren is out of reach/sight and so are the wires leading to it. the control module is burried in a secret location. install is making out to be a pretty clean and tidy one. only issue i ran into was wiring the door locks, but i figured out how to do that and the system will be fully installed tomorrow.

in addition to the alarm, i plan to replace my battery with a braile unit, and relocate it to an out of reach area i have in mind so any attempt at killing power to the alarm will be a failed one. and i also plan on installing a short hub, quick release steering wheel setup. all of this in addition to the Honda Immobilizer system should make my car pretty much theft proof unless a tow truck is used.

but yea. . .keep your cars safe.

i suggest NOT telling what you were doing with the viper and what kind you are using. it seems like you were trying to say out aloud so whoever was thinking about doing it, wont... but honestly you are just giving away wat system u have away so they would know how to counter it... just food for thought.

point taken. . .i see what youre saying. it's a slim chance anyone will be able to counter my install, even if they know what kind of alarm system is installed on the car. an alarm is an alarm. the 5701 is just a system with an optional remote start and two way remote.

just worried about ya man.. and doesnt it suck it happened RIGHT before you finished?!

i learned my lesson man.. i was turbocharged AND had a hard top when my window was smashed.. AND I NEVER HAD AN ALARM!!!

i knew deep down to get one, but i was too damn greddy and wanted my toys... but i got an alarm that same week...

what i DONT understand is the folks that dont have an alarm.. get their car broken into, AND STILL dont get an alarm...
