New favorite road in VA...
It may not compare with The Dragon, but HOLY CRAP!!!!
Anyone ever been on Rt. 708? Get on 29 south from Charlottesville and it's a left turn about 6 miles south of the 29/I-64 interchange.
For about 2 miles or so it's just a nice country road, but then you start going uphill and OH-MY-GOD is it heaven! Really tight, perfectly banked turns out the wazoo!
It's the road you take to get to Walnut Creek Park. I was photographing a mountain bike race there last weekend. When I came to the turnoff to go to the park, I had to turn around and take that road again, it was so fun!
Strongly suggested whenever you're in the area. I turned off it onto Rt. 621; anyone know if the fun continues if you keep going on 708?

We need to verify this road with rwr4a. Rodney took a group of us on some of the sweetest-ass roads all through the backside of Charlottesville last spring .
Very possible that this road was incorporated into that drive he'd put together. No one complained when it was over...and many made "We have The Dragon in Virginia" comparisons when we finished that run .

Man! I am so jealous of you guys who live anywhere but here!! I mean, I have to drive for at least 45 minutes just to get to a road that is barely S-able..... especially with the weather starting to get really great, I want to go out after work and tear up some roads.
Oh well, back to the exit ramps off I-64

Yup, Route 708 (Red Hill Road) is indeed one of the roads on both of the C'ville drives last year. Its the location of the "neverending turn" that so many of you talked about. Its much better going west-to-east (uphill, the way you said) than east-to-west, in my opinion. I just wish it were longer....sometimes, I go out there and go back and forth cuz that uphill section is
June...I think June might be a good time for me to organize another drive up here. I will try to include that road, but I want to branch out a little.
