Does anyone even know what the badge was used for in the first place? Some of you have been here for a while, some haven't. It use to be for guest/members that are in the Mid-A area. Did it require that you attended meets? Sure, but meets were plentiful then. At least that's what I remember. But hey, I could be wrong also.

It wasn't even used for you to sell in the Mid-A for sale forum. That forum just came about when I was a CO. We were the ones that locked it down. I guess we would be the ones to be to blamed. But now that you're not required to have a badge to post in the FS/WTB forum, it doesn't really server any purpose. To me, it doesn't show that I'm in the "cool" group. It use to show that I was part of a family, but even that's "iffy-iffy". Have I met some great people on here. Of course, other wise you wouldn't still see me posting.

Some people enjoy the badges. They say, you know those guys in the Mid-A are a pretty cool group of people and I would like to have a badge to show support. Yeah, I used the "cool" phrase. Some people are badge-whores that just want badges from everywhere, not matter where they live. And some people like to be a part of something and a badge gives them that.

Are the rules broken, sure. But it's discussions like this that help you iron out what needs to be fixed. Even though being a CO is great, it has it's downsides also. Especially with threads like this.

But that's my rant.

What the hell is all the hoopla about? It's simple spend the $20 buy a year membership get a badge and drop it.... are you people that own an S2000 really fretting over a $20 membership for a year? I spend more than that on each meal everyday... Hmmm I wonder how long S2KI would stay around if everyone stopped being a paying member.... then where would we go? Quit being tight asses and support the site..... geeeze.

I gotta say, one of the major reasons why I did it, was not only to support the site, but to get rid of all those ads that pop up in between the posts. I hated that.

btw my two cents:

from what i've seen in my short time here, some people think a badge is not a big deal any more. but yet those same people are MAKING a big deal about it.

i'm not pointing fingers at specific people, because i couldn't care less really who is saying what, i left high school 5 years ago, i left a bull shit drama queen fraternity (i often called it a sorority with how much drama there was) a little less than a year ago (altho i wasn't active in it for about 2 years) and i really don't want to get too involved in it here.

That brings me to another point. i paid 400 dollars a semester (800 a year) to stay in a fraternity that i had a few good friends in... and that was MANDATORY. why not fork out 20 bucks (less than 2 dollars a month... really?!?!) to be part of a sight that has most likely given you a GREAT deal of knowledge about the car (expensive btw) you chose to own. even if you find one good deal about some oil at some store, BOOM DER YA GO, 20 dollars is made up for.

sorry. i know i'm new to the sight and may not know the whole "back ground" of the badge, but hell, i was at Hopkins and made it out to two meets, paid 20 bucks (even tho i was paying 50 grand a year to attend hopkins....) and had a bullish job that i only made 10 dollars an hour at 10 hours a week.

I under stand prioritizing when money is tight, especially in this economy. But as a CO said, it was only people who were guest status for over a year. if you can't find twenty dollars a YEAR to pay to this sight then don't complain about it.

once again:

i'm off to work at my part time job where i make minimum wadge so i can hide a twenty dollar bill in my room to pay for my membership next year.
