Default Questions about buying

I'm new to Virginia and I'm looking to a 03 sc s2000 located in north Carolina. I was wonder about the process of regestering the car here in virginia. How har is it can it be done in a day or two. The car has. Header test pipe and exhaust. I could always throw the stock stuff on. But that would throw a code and make it not pass smog? And it has an aem, would that have anything to do with passing smog or inspection.

Thanks,
Ryan

AEM EMS? That will not pass. You won't have the readiness indicators when they plug into the OBDII port. Your OBDII port won't have any type of information.

To pass you would need to swap in the stock ECU as well as have a catalytic convertor with no CELs.

Depending on what part of VA. We don't have smog in SoVA. And you can't fail inspection for having a check engine light on.

Good luck. Any type of modification to OEM exhaust, seat belt (harnesses) or other trivial thing, can be failed in VA.

Welcome to the COMMONWEALTH. It all depends on the place doing the inspections, but I can't imagine anywhere passing that.

I bought my stock MY04 S2000 in NC in July 2004. I took it to the local gas station (pulled right in) for a state emissions and annual inspection. I then took the sales receipt to the DMV showed proof of insurance, the emissions receipt (although they had it in their computer), and sales receipt. I paid the sales tax, title and registration fee. Go on the the DMV on line site and it should tell you what the sales tax rate and fees are ....... Wait at the DMV was about an hour (Fair Oaks Mall - Fairfax, VA).
Good Luck.

Maybe not, but the header & test pipe (I assume that means no CC) won't pass if the shop looks. They technically should not pass it.

Yes. Out where I live you can get nearly anything to pass, if you know where to go.
